What brought you to buy a G?
I was looking at over 20+ cars (Coupes/SUVs/Sedans/etc) before I found my G. During my search I decided that I wanted something small and fun, so I narrowed my search down to R32, STi, G35, S2000 and Z4, with R32 being the top choice mainly for its AWD, hatchback practicality and the intoxicating exhaust note. So I searched heavily around the dealers, VWvortex, NASIOC, S2ki and this site, and I came across a very rare, great condition Lakeshore Slate 6MT coupe on this site. Despite what people say about the lack of smoothness with the 6MT, a local test drive got me completely sold on the G. Eventually, I flew ~900 miles to pick up this baby from Charlotte and drive it back to Boston, and since then I've been very, very happy.
Come to think of it, I like it more now because of the "rare" factor. I don't know whether Athens Blue is rarer than Lakeshore Slate, but either coupe is definitely rarer than an R32 (esp. white or blue) in both the Cleveland area and Boston area.

I was always an American Muscle guy. Growing up my friends and I all had Mustangs (me), Camaros, etc. I actually stumbled across the G35 Coupe while shopping for a new Mustang. I saw it on a used car lot & it was love at first sight...I knew I had to have one, and developed an infatuation with the car, but financial situations kept me from pulling the trigger on buying one. Finally this fall, all the stars aligned & I was finally able to purchase my G. Best automotive purchase I've ever made.

I was a muscle guy myself. I had a 67 Camaro and an 85 El Camino...both modded with 400+ hp each. The el camino had a 68 Camaro block in it with 4k worth of work. Miss the torque, but nothing beats the lines and look of the G... and that is coming from a working artist.

Buying a G35 Sedan after owning a e36 M3 coupe. The G35 Sedan is extremely similar in handling and acceleration to my old 95 M3. The only difference now is I have a kid and needed a four door and something more practical. The fact that my M3 was a coupe was a real drain on me being able to use the car for family. The Sedan is going to be reallly practical for a long time with good maintainance and the possibilities to mod it are endless which will keep me interested in the car for a long time. So, I bought it for the fun, practicality, convenience, reliability and performance combined. Great vehicle.

^that is great reasons for buying the sedan. If I had more than one, I would maybe would buy a sedan. I drove a few sick sedans in my club, and no doubt they are very practical!
I've liked the G coupe for years but I was always a Honda/Acura guy. Not to mention, I never had the loot to buy one anyway. After my accident, my only option was to get an automatic so I could use hand controls. I had to sell my 2006 Accord V6 6-speed (modded) and decided if I had to drive an auto, it was going to be RWD and sexy. I'm so thankful I didn't get the TL type S that I had been looking at...I don't really need four doors anyway. I am very happy with my decision. I was driving yesterday and looked over to see the shadow my car was making on the side of the road. The shape of this car is so slick! I have had tons of complements.

I've wanted a 350z for a long time, then as I got more into cars I realized a G35 was just a nicer 350z, and my attention turned towards g35's. I decided to buy a 2008 civic thinking that I was being practical and not having any horsepower would reign me in a little...
After a year of owning the civic i traded it in and doubled my horsepower and halved my mpg lol.

Jeremy you don't have to pick between muscle and import!! why not have both? I was always a muscle car guy, still am. my first car, which I still own and is a work in progress, is a 68 chevelle, and it is beautiful just like the g. My friends were all into imports but when I decided to go buy a car, and I didn't have the motivation to pick up a honda and start modding. there was no other choice. I can't think of many other cars that make me that happy to drive. It's worth all of the work and being broke that goes into it haha.
I am new to posting on the boards so first ...hey. Anyways I always wanted a G coupe since I first saw them come out. I had a Cobra at the time but wanted a fine cross between sporty and luxury. The best car that fit that was of course the G35. I wanted to have both cars at the same time. Instead Jan 09 I ice decided to take my Cobra into a wall at a high rate of speed. It was dumb I know that. Anyways I had to get a car so I flew to Atlanta and picked up a 07 Pearl White G35 coupe. I will post pics soon I have 20'' rims and 5 % tint....I think it looks nice hopefully you guys will too.

Great stories guys...

When I was looking for a vehicle in late 2008 (my lease on a Mazda CX-7 was ending), I knew I wanted AWD, but I wasn't sure if I wanted an SUV or to go back to my favorite style of car, a 4 door sedan (I still missed my '91 Maxima). I wanted quality, looks, and power. After researching and reading quite a bit, I'd narrowed my results down to these cars.
Sedan: Infiniti G35x, BMW 330xi
SUV: Nissan Murano, Infiniti FX35, Acura RDX
My sister has a 330xi, and while it's a blast to drive, it's very tight on the inside. Plenty of legroom, but feels claustrophobic up near the shoulders. And repairs just suck on a BMW. She's put a good $8000 into it since she bought it about 3 years ago. So the BMW was out.
The FX35 and RDX were both very nice, but also out of the price range I wanted to spend. The Murano was a possibility, but 2 factors eliminated it. First, everything I'd read said the CVT really sapped the cars potential. Second, while the CVT was overbuilt and very reliable, repairing it was not an option. It could only be replaced for about $4400. Too much potential cost down the road for a vehicle I planned on keeping for many years.
So I came back to my first choice, the G35x. It felt like coming home after owning a Maxima for 10 years, then not having a Nissan or a sedan for almost 3 years. It was a natural upgrade to the Max. Significantly nicer on the inside, with lots more power. And I think it's the nicest looking car on the road.
Fast forward 15 months, and I still love the look of it, and it's still a blast to drive. I've improved it's looks with a painted grill, painted headlights, Coupe 18" wheels for the summer, and sometime this spring I'll be lowering it slightly onto a Sedan Sport rear setup with some Coupe front springs. Should even out the tire gap somewhat while lowering maybe .5 inches R and 1 inch F.
BUT, and I hate to say this, but it's the truth. A 4 door sedan as your only vehicle is impractical, especially one you'd never want to put a hitch on, and even if you did it only has a 1000 pound towing capacity. Had the Murano been available as a Certified Pre-owned back then, or not had the CVT "performance issue", I'm certain I would have purchased that instead.

I worked as a car salesman for about 7 months. Someone traded an Black 04 Coupe in. It looked good, sounded good and felt good. I didn't like the tan interior because I am messy and I would probably leave a skid mark on the seat on a hot day. It was between the G and a Z3 or M3 convertible. I finally got my 06 about a month ago. I still have my 69 Mustang and my Ducati. I am very happy I went with the G.
