Too early for summer wheels?

I'm going back to Boston for Easter weekend and I'm thinking about putting them on while I'm there (the summer wheels are stored at my parents' place). Do you guys think its too early to put summer tires on in early April? The weather in Cleveland projected for the next 10 days fluctuates anywhere between mid-30s to mid-50s. I want to get them on now because I don't want to have to carry the set back to Cleveland and take up my storage space, and the next time I may go to Boston is probably Memorial Day weekend.

What really worries me is that I heard so many people say summer tires in 45 degrees or below is like driving with hockey pucks on ice... And the fact that I already spun out once with winter tires on... (although that was during a massive snowstorm)

Any suggestions?

You'll be fine on dry/rained on roads in the mid 30s...it's actual snow/ice that makes summer tires useless.

I've been breaking necks for about ten days. I'm in Cleveland with my wheels on, its salt you have to worry about. I just wish my days for no snow.

Yea I had mine on yesterday but I was only able to drive around the parking lot about 500 ft before they came back off. My rear valve stems are hitting my calipers so hopefully I can get that fixed today. Wow my rears look sweet especially with my coils !

Summer tires are good as long as they are warm. The lower the temperatures, the lower the traction. I have ran mine into the 30s, but usually they leave a warm garage. If your car sits out I would be cautious for a the first few miles until the tires start to warm up from the friction on the road.

Good luck and POST PICS of your G!
