Anyway wanted to say good luck and keep up the posts.
Thanks man!! I have never built a motor before, but im pretty good mechanically and have always wanted to do this. All I know it takes alot of time to think about what parts you want and what goes where.

Are you going to start a thread on you build, I would like to follow your build and what parts you are using? Are you going to go turbo? Is yours going to be a drag car, track car, or DD?

I've thought about creating a thread but i'm a real noob at forums. I keep asking my teenagers what to do next. LOL. I decided on a LS 3 style long block with... L92 heads, offset rockers, custom ground comp cam, melling high pressure oil pump, ls7 high rev lifters, ls2 timing set up, ls1 covers, and ls3 intake with 31lb injectors. The engine should arrive any day now.. coming from Texas, i'm in PA. I want the car set up to drift, LOVE going sideways.. I may start a thread when the engine shows up but i'm definately keeping track of yours

Absolutely, and likewise. I have a friend Chris from my350z forum who just finished with his so hopefully if I run into any issues I can call him up and have him stop by for some advice. He's been a super big help with any problems I've had in the past. He's a moderator over there and I'm pretty sure he did a step by step thread for his build. I'll pm you my phone number and maybe we can help each other out along the way.

OK. Time for an update.

Lower main bearings installed in the main caps.

Upper main bearings installed in the block.

Erica's first attempt at taking a picture of me micing in the main bearings, pretty cool shot though:

Me micing in the main bearings. .001"-.002" clearance all around. Yeah!!

All main bearings checked out to .001"-.002" clearance. She is ready for the crankshaft.

A little assembly lube on the upper main bearings.

A little more assembly lube on the lower main bearings.

Dropped the crankshaft in!!

Main caps installed and everything torqued down. She turns freely. Next step is to check end play.
[

Thats all for today. I am still waiting on my ring grinder and ring compressor. Should be here later this week. Let me know if any of the pictures dont work.

From what I seen it looks good. But some of your pics arent showing up. I am jealous...After Owning a 67 Camaro RS, 69 Corvair and 85 El Camino with a fully built motor and drivetrain, I also have always wanted to build a motor.

Now if I blow my VQ, I know I can sell my Custom Garrett Turbo Kit and pick up a LS block and start a build thread. So the dream is still alive! hahahaha

cant wait to see it bro.

Hey bro. Looking good. I just got my delivery confirmation. My ls will arrive Monday, I'm super stoked. Anyway I have a question for ya, are your a/c lines off the oem condensor solid all the way through the firewall or did you have some sort of disconnect. Mine is solid and I don't know how I'm gonna remove the condensor to finish pulling the motor. Any suggestions? Can they maybe be repaired if you cut them? I'm stuck

I am not this far in my build yet. FanJoe and brewhaha i think on my350z are your best bet for the lines. I think they were working on a kit.

If you dont want to pay for them My bet would be to cut them and flare the tube and connect with fittings. I would guess that you should be able to access it from the inside and disconnect fully. keep in mind that the lines are pressurized with r134a. you can blead it off but its technically not legal (not to say I have not done this before x2) due to putting cfcs in the air.

Yep, I figured it out, I really feel dumb, lol. there are disconnects, they resemble bells kinda and it takes a special tool to unlock them. I got them and got my condensor off. started taking everything apart on the VQ to sell for parts and looking forward to getting my engine on monday. I am still looking at months of work though, I need to get a tranny able to withstand at least 600 hp and a new engine management system then $4000 for a complete custom rewire. Damn i just can't wait, sure would be nice to be rich so i could just drop 20 g's and be done. LOL
