VCD - Vehicle Directional Control..

Have a nice set of 19's on now. But - my VCD control box now seems to go mad. After a few mins of driving, the ABS, SLIP and VCD lights all come on. Any else found this when putting on non-OEM alloys? Any fixes?

It means your tyres are too thick. if you go up from 17-19" then the profile needs to come down from say 40-30 so that the outside circumference stays the same, thats one problem with 20" wheels you need a 25 profile tyre which on our roads leaves you open to hitting a pot hole and buckling your wheel.

I have 19's no problem, you have to get the profiles right to match the widths
running 245/35/19 front 275/35/19 rear nearly matches stock.

I've got 245/35/19's on the front and 275/40/19's on the back.
Used to have the 225/45/18's on the front and 245/45/18's on the rear.
Should 5mm more on the rear make that much difference?

i think u need a lower profile on the rear... like a 35. it would have been a better match.

Slip light comes one but that's only when my right foot gets a bit heavy in the wet.

Its not 5mm. The profile is a percentage of the overall wheel size therefore 5% which does make a difference. If you rolled two tyres one complete circle on the floor the difference between a 30 profile and a 40 profile on 19's would be a big difference.

Sorted!
Have replaced rear tyres with 275/35/19 Bridgestone Potenza's which so far (touchwood) have yet to activate the VCD/ABS/SLIP lights.
Thanks for all the help!

Got the same problem at the moment. All three lights come on after 5 to 10 min's and stay on until the ignition is turned of.
The only difference is I haven't changed the wheels (still standard).

I took the car to Abbey Motorsport last Friday and they found some dodgy wiring under the dash so that could be part of the problem. So the cars going back on the 29th of this month for a week and they're going to strip back the wiring and start afresh.

Hopefully they can sort it in time, before the cold weather, because I don't fancy driving it without traction control and ABS

Will keep you updated

Anyone know how long the standard shock absorbers should last? Only, having done 39,000 miles, both the rear ones need replacing (according to my local garage). Is this normal??
I have never tracked the car or been brutal with it, but it just seems odd that something like the shocks require replacing so early in a cars life. You would have thought that they would last alot longer!
