And across the road from where the car was parked...

Nice color. Back side of the resevoir, I see. Meet any constitutionalists, Klan members, or any other lunatics while out there? I'm not sure which is scarier, going out to that neck of the woods, on or off duty.

Eh, I found the name of the road to be mostly ironic, as I highly doubt the houses along there are affordable to those types. The road seems to be more or less maintained (about the same level as Mt. Hamilton road) and the crowd that I saw generally seemed to be bicylists and hikers (oddly enough, however, most of the traffic -- especially bicycles -- seems to be going from Almaden Road to Camden, rather than the other way, which is how I came).

Thanks for the comments everybody. Originally, I wanted to my car in Diamond Graphite (which is a fine color and I like it), but then I saw a Lakeshore Slate coupe in the showroom and instantly fell in love with the color, asking the dealership to bring up an LS car instead.

Don't mean to jack the thread, unique color BTW. The name of the road becomes very representitive of the area the further out you drive. Yes there are 1,2,3+ million dollar homes initially, but as you proceed further into the hills, there are some very old, run down, sketchy homes.

I delivered mail for many years in that exact neighborhood and had to drive down every dirt road named "Bob's Road" to some shanty house where the toothless homeowner comes out to meet you to get his SSI check and has 15 rusted out hoopties and just as many inbreed dogs running around.

Now whenever I have to go out there it is usually for a traffic collision (usually DUI involved or a fatality), recover a stollen or abandoned car or boat (yes boats), parking complaints, downed trees, powerlines, mudslides, grass fires, hit and run follow up (that's a scary story in itself), and oh yeah the big one, marijuana farms. Two large crops have been found not far from where you took the pictures of you car. The first one about a year ago which resulted in a Fish and Game Warden getting shot and many law enforcement agencies, including mine, on a full scale manhunt.

Yes it's a beautiful drive. Very scenic. Plenty of wildlife, from deer, wild pigs, wild turkey, etc... It's amazing how in just ten minutes you can be in the middle of nowhere and no trace of the hustle and bustle of San Jose. But it never seems to fail that you encounter someone who is completely off their rocker that lives out there. There is little or no cell phone reception out there and help is a long way away. I'm not trying to discourage you or scare you from driving out there, but just to make you aware. Take a friend or three. Stay safe.

No problem, not a threadjack at all. I did include pictures of the road, after all.

Oh wow Didn't realize that there's such a contrast that happens across a road the course of which is seven miles at most (but then again, in another way I did realize there was a big contrast -- you go from suburbia into wilderness within a few minutes). Big thanks for the heads up . One thing to take away from your post, is that I'll definitely avoid this road at dusk/dawn (and when it's dark), or on hours/days when DUIs are more likely (like, say, right after a three day weekend) -- this is *not* the sort of a road where I'd like to be anywhere *near* a drunk driver.
