My Black on Black G
#19
plans for the day are:
-remount hub rings
-oil change
-front brake pad change
-headlight install
-sidelight bulb swap
i estimate 3hrs of work taking my time, weather permitting.
sunset is at 630ish here, so i should be good. weather looks like its holding up.
i should be able to do everything without any other help... so i'll start soon and we'll see how accurate i am.

thanks for the compliments. the install actually took a lot longer than expected. i wasnt able to change the oil because none of the stores were open today then it turned out that the right headlight was different than the original and the wires wouldnt reach...
i was able to finally get the headlights installed though... and really like the look. with these new wheels the new headlights are much better because they match the overall theme: from some angles at night the surrounding for the headlight looks black. when it doesnt it really fits in all the same.
as far as the lights themselves go, i am running philips 6000k ultinon d2s low/hi, and the other lights are all piaa's super white- corners included, except the signals which are piaa mirror orange. ordinarily i could see how the other lights would match the hid but these ultinons have a funny color to it that im not sure can be matched... regardless im happy with the setup as is.
as far as performance goes, the lights do seem better although i cant quantify how much better. i understand that 6000k is less output than 4300k but it doesnt seem so to me.. maybe the projectors make up the difference.. or maybe it has to do with how well the human eye picks up things that are hit with 6000k vs 4300k... either way it definitely feels like a step up. of course the cutoff is very cool. obviously it doesnt have much color at cutoff due to the design of the g's projectors, but it does seem to be dark blue with maybe a hint of red... i'll check again tomorrow night.
something i didnt really expect though was how everyone stares at the beam. the car gets enough attention already. now there are even more stares if youre into that kinda thing thats good...
oh one more thing: the bulbs say they aren't for use in the united states or in europe... i wonder why? the color doesn't seem THAT blue...
anyway, a couple more pics from today. the night pics i took didn't really come out that well so ill try again tomorrow..
not for use in euro/usa:
beam color, sorry not a real wall shot:
