New Body work (help)

I posted this in the exterior section as well but I think I would get more eyes / help in here.

Question...

I recently got a KS replica rear bumper from Klumzyee (nice bumper!) and the body shop charged my an arm and a leg to do the work on it cuz I told them I wanted it done right. Well when I pick it up... 1) the color is off by a shade 2) they got glue / epoxy on one of the inlets that will not come off and they tried to cover it up with paint hoping I would not notice. 3) I think they cut off a part of the bumper near the lic plate bracket (upper right corner lip).

I asked about the color being off and he said "well almost all bumpers dont match the rest of the cars"

I asked about the lip being cut off, he said "are you sure it was not like that when you brought it in?" (I am pretty sure that was there as I am pretty **** and I think I would have noticed it when the bumper arrived)

I did not notice the glue / epoxy until I got her home and washed her today.

Now, I am not overly happy with the work they did as they seemed pretty careless when they were working on her and I do not want them to really touch her again. They also did some other work as well as I recently got hit on a front fender (paint there does not match the hood either)...

What recourse do I have for sub par work? I was thinking about going thru the bill and subtracting the messed up areas and disputing those with my Credit Card Co. I dont mind paying for the decent parts but to pay for a rear bumper that has epoxy stuck on it that I am going to have to get re-done does not make sense to me.

He also told me before I handed him the keys that he could match the paint... I think all he did was get the paint code from the manufacturer and sprayed it without even trying to match it. He also did that on the front fender as well but he blended it into the door so it is not noticeable until you look at it against the hood.

Below: fender / hood... paint does not match.

Below: left side vent w/ epoxy stuck on it.

Below: upper right of lic bracket cut off... Left side is intact.

Below: notice the fender / bumper line... paint does not match.

A couple more pics:

Help me out with some insights and suggestions please!

I appreciate it!

Thanks!

man that sucks dude, ive been waiting for you to post pics like i said the other day, but dang, id be all over them man... my guys didnt match the paint at first, and its an authentic KS kit, and i made them redue it b/c they said they could match the paint... I really feel its all up to the body work specialist on whether they want to spend 2 hours prep, then paint... or a whole day to do it right the first time... Hope you can do something about it man... good luck and keep us updated!

Yeah, I am going back there first thing tomorrow morning to get them to match it up right... I dont want it just faded into the other panels, I want them to match it as good as they can. My other shop does incredible work but they were soooo booked up and I was impatient so I tried this place a friend referred me to.

If they tell me they can't do better or they give me a hard time I will talk to my credit card Co. and Ins Co. about it..... I paid almost 750 for the rear bumper to get preped and painted, I expect a 1st rate job, not a hack job.

I'll keep ya posted.

Thanks Marty...

You better believe she will be 100% again. I am not gonna just sit back and watch this kinda crap happen to my baby...

I will cancel the charges on my CC and take it to my regular guy to fix if I have to. I think with this evidence and the pics it should not be to difficult to prove my case.

To be honest, I don't see a difference in the paint. I'm sure pictures don't do it justice and I'm just as **** as you are...I notice EVERY little imperfection on my car, including my bumper paint. No one notices, but me.

But the epoxy on the bumper is just plain carelessness. I'd definitely take it back to them.

I couldn't tell from the close up pixs but the pixs from a distance it's obvious looks like they used a lot of grey in the paint. Either way just keep in mind once it's done right it's going to be a stunner.

Well... I tried going there this AM and was plesant to the shop manager. I asked him about the rear bumper and he said yeah, we need to take care of that (the epoxy). So he admitted to that.

I then asked him about the missing lip on the Lic plate bracket and he looked at me like a deer in the headlights... Um, how do we know that didnt come like that?... I was getting a little irritated and then agreed to have him cut the left side to match the right.

Now... The paint match..../sigh.... He told me that the match was "good enough" and that he could bring people from the street and they would not be able to tell. I told him that he knew this was a show car going into it and that the paint need to match better than it does. He said it matched up to the door and that matching to the hood was not his problem. I disagreed with him and said that it needed to match both the door and the hood and he knew this going into it. He then had the nerve to say "you didn't tell me you wanted the paint to match the hood as well" .... I was like WTF?!?!? Isn't this what you do for a living? What did you do just get the paint code and spray without even trying to match it up to the body panels and hood?

He then told me he could blend the fender to the hood and bumper but that he would charge me for it.

I said um, no thanks and left. I don't want the guys in this shop touching my car again.
