so are the factory bulbs for the 06 projectors 4200k or 4300k? just want to confirm what was said above.

I also bought a pair of 06 projectors, but does anyone know what the diff is between the recalled ones and the 2nd gen ones?..other than the cutoff and light brightness? Is there a diff. serial number or any other physical evidence on the assembly that's different?

PS: This IS a compairison of the stock D2R vs D2S HIDS....I actually haven't installed the 8000K bulbs yet so I was fibbing a bit hahaha people believe anything they read on the internet I swear. Funny how you act like you know what your talking about, I just took these shots on the Tungsten WB setting in my camera so the lights would appear to have a blueish light output.
So i mistyped and put projectors instead of headlights, obviously we both knew what I hwas talking about. Of course the reflector housing are going to have some light leakage above the cutoff because they aren't projectors. Taking overexposed pictures with incorrect settings so that you could lie to us was a great idea. You are still too close to the wall to make any type of comparison, and you still haven't proven that the 05's have glare issues. They don't, the light leakage above the cutoff is minimal. Anyone who's seen an 03-05 coupe will tell you that they don't glare in stock form. I did make an assumption that you put d2s bulbs in both, but based on your deceptive pics, it was a perfectly logical assumption, the stock bulb output looks nothing like the pics you took, they are very white without any hint of blue. So good job on not proving anything with your "comparison"

The specs list them at 4200k +/- 250k. The difference between 4200-4300k is minimal though.

05 headlights use the D2R bulbs, I bought the "2nd gen" or updated NON projector headlights with D2S bulbs.

Sorry about the bump for the dead thread...

Newbie question: Does the front bumper have to be removed to replace headlamps?

Thanks

Quick answer: No

You only need to remove the screws/bolts on the side of the bumper to pull it down a bit. However, I would recommend taking off the bumper, as it is easier to put back on.
