It isn't like the car is like that all the time, its just for a short period of time then it's off. I guess some don't understand it.

Here is mine taped up on my way to HIN Orlando. I've gotten pretty proficient in it where I can do my car in 15-20min.

My car is way too much of a DD ever to do this... I frequently make 500-mile roundtrips to NC from DC and can't ever see myself taping up my front end. Then again, if/when I get my new bumper and grill, might be worth it!

I can't see the story. I even made an account on VWvortex forums, then it kicks me out saying "You are not authorized to view this forum."

Every one of these cars is a DD. The TT FX35 sees about 80-100 miles a day. Long trips without blue tape = 50 lbs. of bugs, rock chips, and a trashed paint job. At the price of some of the paint jobs on these show cars, one can't afford not to.

clear bra FTW!!!

yeah, yeah, i know it isn't completely clear and you can see it and it might get pionts deducted from the judges, but it's priceless to be able to wake up and drive up to norcal for a show, scrub the bugs off, show the car, and be ready to roll-out and go home immediately afterwards

Hmmm... i read that story a really long time ago. I guess they wanted to stop the extra traffic from going to the site to view the thread. Unfortunate considering it's a really good story

serious, i know it looks stupid for the time being but at least it covers it for that drive

the funny thing is most guys on the way back dont recover their car so it sort of defeats the purpose. just run clear bra(3m). no need to worry.

3M clear bra is not enough for long road trips. My clear bra has enough nicks and scrapes that I'm probably going to need to have Aerotect redo it. For long trips, I use blue painter's tape and cover certain parts with an extra layer of duct tape (also covers up some of the blue color). Randy found some orange duct tape that matched his paint really well and he used it for the San Mateo trip.
