LA River + 6th Street Bridge Photoshoot: G35 + Charger **56k = noNo; lots of pics**
#18
I agree the those vent thingys are tacky its just like those Bentley Grills, but thats just my opinion. Chargers, Magnum's and 300 M's most of the time try to out run me. I mean I'm just trying to pass, and as soon as I pass them they have to speed up and try to over take me or race me. (sigh)
I like the shots though, good job!

Nice job on the pics. Some of them are a bit underexposed and you lose some of the detail in the black car. I'm still learning about exposure myself and face the same challenge, particulary when shooting a black car. Great choice of shooting location!

[QUOTE=Locksmith]Nice pix, why does the charger have those 3 small square vents on the fenders????[/QUOTE[
Thanks. I'm not sure. I guess it was my friend's choice to do it.

I'm also curious why he put the pepboys squares on his fender.
Pictures turned out cool I think. Most of the people who get the really nice looking roll shots are using a rig. Having the long shutter while driving next to the car usually results in a crappy shot with blur everywhere. Good job!

OP... you have some good potential here, but all the pictures are a bit soft. If you're not using a tripod, get one, it'll help out a lot. Also when you're shooting a black car, or any car for that matter, make sure you pick up a circular polarizer, it works wonders for reflections.
If you ever want to go shooting and get some practice, hit me up and i'll go out with ya and give you some tips/pointers and what not.

That would be really awesome if I could get some photo advice from you in person. Name a time and place?

1/25 is your problem. if you don't need to be shooting at f/20, then don't. and don't be scared to bump up your ISO a little if necessary. i'd rather see some slight noise than a soft/blurry picture.
i like the alley location.

as for you rolling shots, set it to shutter priority and adjust your shutter speed accordingly to how fast you and the subject are moving. you shouldn't be shooting at f/1.8 for this kinda shot.

And like I said above, the rolling shot was a spur of the moment thing. I saw that there was a break in traffic, so I quickly grabbed the camera and tried a few shots. Didn't really come out too well, and I was worried about hitting another car.

Thanks for all the comments guys. Please, do keep them coming, both the praise and the criticisms. I really like them.

It's just a street down towards the river. If you're lowered though, you most likely can't make it into the River since it drops off sort of sharply from flat ground towards the bed of the river. If you look at the picture before the one that shows the LA River without the Charger in it -- that's the way we took.
Thanks for the comments, guys. Really, really appreciate them.
I don't really get hassled by any Chargers or Magnums... ever... but my car's pretty stock looking, so

From the looks of your avatar, your car isn't crazily mod'd either. No worries, though. Criticism is criticism and that's what you gotta take when you post pictures. up. Thanks.
Hopefully I might be able to get a bumper and sides. Maybe.

I had a tripod, but I hadn't notice that it had broken, from me using it with a 80-200 f/2.8 lens that I had, which is super heavy. Poor design, I guess. Shucks, I do have a circular polarizer, but I wasn't sure that it would work, because I was told that it blocks reflections for non-metallic objects only.

P.S.- You should capitalize at the beginning of your sentences.
A "Rig Shot" will produce better images than taking a rolling shot almost every single time. Any photographer will agree with this, its common sense.
I didn't say it couldn't be done either. Its just much harder to achieve the same quality of a shot as you otherwise would from a rig.
edit: "rig shot"
my bad~

you stated that almost everytime you'd get crappy results hanging out a window taking shots, which is entirely untrue. and i do agree that it is much easier to get crisp, clear shots every time from a rig.
It's a forum on the internet, there's no reason for me to capitalize.
