Some new test shots taken with my new Canon EOS 40D... Tell me what you think

Judging by the harsh/sharp shadows, I'm guessing you shot in broad daylight. Try shooting at sunrise/sunset or on overcast days. I'd also recommend picking up a good circular polarizer to help reduce the reflections, primarily on the windows. Ease off on the contrast in post processing, too. You can't see any of the details of the tires in any of the pics. And it looks like you shot all these on f/10. Try opening up the aperture...

It's my first DSLR so I'm still learning the basics. I'll check my manual how I open up my aperture..
