I've seen my fair share of friends being killed and injured but that has yet to keep me from riding. I myself have been riding for 4 years and I've crashed my bike, dropped my bike on my foot and worst of all rode on a flat rear tire
Same thing i told my mother when i told her i was getting a gsxr.

There are pics in my Garage of it. I love it and I have found that of all the bikes I have owned over the last 16 years, this one is the best combination of speed, agility, comfort and looks (my tastes that is). Not to mention the saddlebags are great for my Commuting to work (27 miles one way). The last two girls I took riding with me now say they will only ride a BMW from now on.

Here are my Mods...

Remus Titanium exhaust (16 lbs lighter than Stock!!!)
Zentech CHip
Zentech Tinted windshield (shorter)
Clear front and rear turn signals
Upgraded LED tails
White LED body Kits
ThrottleMeister Cruise Control
OEM BMW Navigation Unit

Last year I rode 3800 miles in 8 days through 12 states all along the East Coast. AND if you head to my Garage, there is a pic of a hottie I met along the way that LOVED my bike.

My Other bikes include

1981 Honda CM400E
1982 Honda NightHawk CB750SC (first year of the Nighthawk and I still own it)
1989 Yamaha Virago 1100VX

Funny, I was just saying something simular the other day. I said " I would rather live and get hurt than to mearly survive and never feel a thing."

As for getting hurt, I put my first bike down when I was 17 (1 year of riding experience) going around a corner that had gravel spilled onto the road. I have learned many lessons about riding, taken rider course and several driving courses (18 total weeks of offensive, defensive and tactical combat) and I havent had an issue since. It really comes down to how you drive and learning to watch for that other guy. I know that chances are high, but I have been in more accidents in my car than on my motorcycle. I commute on my BMW from late February to the first snow fall in Ohio as well. I believe that when you are on your bike, your more in tune with the road and what is going on that 99% of the drivers on the road. I mean, I know that I answer calls, fiddle with the cd player and sometimes zone out in my G35 while driving and then think "was that light red?"

My advice to all the new riders, take the rider's safety course, and then take the advance. Practice everything you learn and live it. Keep the stupid stuff for track or off road and keep the rubber side down...
