hows that benz treating you? i'm thinking about picking up an 04-06 E55 AMG but keep hearing bad things about them as far as maintence wise?

 

I've been lucky with mine. However, the '03's have had their share of issues. Less in '04, but still should stay away from them. Try and pick up '05 or later. If you're going AMG, make sure you get a warranty, cuz maintenance is expensive.

 

ic, yeah i read up about them and find that alot of people have issues...i also considered a CLS55 amg aswell....the prices on these things are dropping like crazy!

 

2 reasons: Wanted something different and wanted a tiny car I could make go fast and drive like a go-cart. Was also considering the classic mini-cooper, but didn't want to spend the time or money to restore one.

 

Prices are dropping. That's what happens with luxury items in this economy. I'm still not a fan of the CLS body style. I think it's one of those that you either like or don't like. It hasn't really grown on me yet, either.

If you're looking at the AMG's, I'd say go with a 55 over the 63 engine if you plan on modding. More potential on the 55. Or, if you want to wait a bit longer, the 63 engine is going to be replaced by a TT V8. Tuning options should be tremendous.

 

yeah I hated the CLS at first but it has grown on me over time...I also love the E55 though lol, plan on getting rid of my g37...hard having a coupe with two kids especially now that they are getting bigger. I don't know though, I guess it'll come down to the car with the best deal,low miles, and warranty. I doubt I'll touch the motor, wouldnt want to risk anything, it'll be all cosmetics....Thanks for the advice!

If no engine mods, go with a 55. The torque on that monstor is addicting. The E55 may be a bit more kid friendly in the back. I think the CLS is a 2 seater back there?
