I over did it on the clear. The more you add, the darker it gets. What you see below is 3 coats of the clear. I'd say do at the most 2. With 2 you can still see the detail but 3 it gets too dark.

I used Duplicolor clear top coat but you can use any acrylic clear really.

I'm going to try this one more time so I can get a good feel for the difference between the oem and one with a clear coat.

Before

After (shift **** added for comparison purposes. Shifter was left untouched)

^I like the raw/non cleared look better. Cleared looks muddy.

Yah, from what I can tell I like the dry look better. But you did say you oversprayed it, so it might look better with 1-2 coats. Post up!

You can buy a sample of it for around $8 shipped and play around with it. This stuff is pretty forgiving.

12"x12" for $10 is the biggest sample I've seen.

Looks good Cal. The nice thing about this 3m stuff, you can remove it and redo it without any issues. You can make it more sticky by putting a heat gun to it on low just for a few seconds.

Here are some pics of a pen I did with a single coat of clear. What the clear basically does is makes it darker then removes the "grey" color from the product. I think I like the dry look better. My roll is coming this week but it will probably be a few weeks before I start my interior.

^^^maybe it's just hard to tell because it's wrapped around such a small surface. but still not feeling it. might also just be too hard to capture in a picture? looks better in person?

i actually like that the neffy wrap is blacker. in the above post you can see that the 3m stuff is more on the gray side.

It does look better in person but still not better than the natural color IMO. I asked for a sample of the neffy stuff but it still hasn't come in. From the pics you posted, the 3M looks more like the real thing?
