JLAW Build Thread

Hey guys, i have been a G owner for exactly 4 weeks now. I've already invested a few thousand dollars into my ride and about 50hrs on it. I wanted to show you guys what i've been up to and what i will be doing. I like to do custom work myself and be a bit different so I will be posting pix soon.

So far the basic installs are a JWT popcahrger, stillen Z tube, NRG strut tower bar, mrev2 lower collector, 5/16th spacer, SxExCx ground wire kit.

I've also touched up all the black rubber trim and will be doing a serious wash/wax job with about 10 of George's (detailed image) products as i have a few really bad spots left from the previous owner.

I'm in the process of some custom anti-heat soak ideas and some increased air flow ideas. I've also purchased a small powder coating set up and have been trying my hand at polishing some stuff myself (SxExCx you are my hero).

So... basically, let me know what you think and i promise i will get pictures up as soon as i can. Also if anyone needs small items powder coated (my oven is 12X12X12) let me know because i need to begin to pay off the equipment .

So i stripped down the engine of the upper and lower plenum, intake, cam covers and a few brackets and brace pieces.

My black rubber trim looked awful from the florida sun even though its an 07 so i taped up the glass on the doors and side panels and my sun roof, wet sanded with 400 grit and hit it with 2 coats of this bondo black restorer, it came out much better but it was hard to get a perfect finish as the product is applied with a sponge and needs to dry, no wiping excess.

I removed my TB to either paint or powder coat if i decide to pop the rivets off to remove the plastic.

Cam covers were polish by hand (80, 150, 220, 320, 420, 600, 800, 1000, 1500, 2000, 2500) then some meguire's metal polish... no joke... i decided that the polished look is boring and will be trying out a new look.

I also was going to polish my spacer but am going to go a different route.

I hit DEI hard and wrapped my pop charger in there heat deflector wrap and used there exhaust wrap on my Z tube.

Poor Boys is for my paint. I have a really bad spot on my hood that the previous owner left for me. Seems that they left some bird **** on the hood too long and it ate into my clear coat, i will be using the Meguiars #105 and #205 compounds and then going with George's 7 step process of Wash-Dry-Clay-Polish-Glaze-Sealant-wax.

If you notice the pix of my upper plenum and MD spacer, i've turned my hotels Liquor room into a garage as it is just off the parking garage, its nice to be surrounded with booze when hand polishing metal and when you drop washers and bolts all over your engine bay.
