Q60 RS thoughts?

I have owned a 07 G35x for about 5 years now and I'm in the market to pick up something faster. I been considering either a Q60RS, BMW M4 or a second hand used R35.

I had very high expectations when I went to test drive the Q60 RS, however I left feeling a bit disappointed TBH. The number 1 thing was the new steering, it felt very weird and disconnected compared to my G35's heavier hydraulics steering. Is it just because I'm not used to it? or would any owners recommend I go for the more traditional steering? I also live in Canada so only the AWD model is available, I can get the RWD model it will just take a bit more work. What are you guy's thoughts on AWD Vs RWD? Personally I imagine the RWD to have a little more drama. And if any of you had experience with the other cars I am considering, please share your thoughts as well! Any input would be appreciated thanks guys!

Well the R35 kind of stands out in a league of its own so...

As for the RWD/AWD argument, personally I've never had issue with either (driven up to 850whp variants of each in various cars) but the launch characteristics are wildly different. Being a canadian and the likelihood of bad weather I'd say to look for an AWD so you have more days per year to drive the vehicle but you can't slide the rear exiting a corner so... less fun...

Honestly I hate that the RS package is only available in red.

The R35 is a wicked ride if you can handle the maintenance costs.. but the m4 is also a beast of a car, honestly I love the look of the Q60 but not so sure how it's gonna stack up to the others.

The steering isn't going to be as nice and firm as the G35's due to changes in the steering system btw

Yeah EPAS blows, if I have one complaint about all new vehicles it's that none have an EPAS system that actually FEELS RIGHT.

Ah I see fair enough! thanks for the input guys. I did a bit of research into R35 and I don't think I can deal with the maintenance of that thing... I think the Q60 is a really good bargain but the steering and the transmission is definitely a down fall. I'm curious on what the Nissan equivalent will be, I read rumors that it was going to be a dual clutch and also a stick option too. Might have to wait for that :P

It'll probably just be double clutch with a fast response time shift for "manual" mode. Don't let my bias turn you off of the Q60 though, literally the only two things I don't like are EPAS (complaint about all newer cars and most folks actually PREFER it to hydraulic power steering) and the fact that the 400hp model is only available in RED...

Well, you're flat wrong that the Red Sport only comes painted Red. Sport and Red Sport are trim levels, not the actual color of the car. I mean honestly, Infiniti would name it the S60 and RS60 if they wouldn't get in trouble from Audi.

So now you just have to deal with your EPAS hangup.

Well you can do whatever you want, there's no binding contractual obligation for maintenance, if it's under warranty and you DONT follow maintenance that could void the warranty depending on the contract.

A guy here in town owns one and I was talking to him about That, he said that its doable by yourself but you have to invest in some specialty tools to get the job done - whatever that means I'm not sure. But it is doable

Probably just talking about the equipment needed to properly balance the airflow between bank1 and bank2. There's also an adjustment that needs to be done regularly on the dual clutch system but iirc that was just a computerized recalibration so it knows the exact engagement/disengagement point.

LoST180. just caught your comment about how they're NOT all red, I literally had no idea, I actually thought that was the only color available for the RS 400 package and had to check the Infiniti site just now. Yep, totally wrong

I have had a 96 Skyline GTST with nearly 400hp ATW & a G35 and let’s say stock.
My new Q60 RS is a beast of a car yet I can drive it for hours with easy but the drive by wire steering is perfect and very precise, when you drive your older cars you’re using your feet and fingers on the steering wheel to get a feel of the road but when I drive my Q60 ... I am just using my eyes and I Point the car to a spot and it hits the mark all the time period!!

For the limited increase in HP with the M4 or M3 is those cars worth it..

I may or may not mod this car but I know the Pedigree of Nissan so I have no concerns if I decide to increase the HP or Torque because I know my Q60 can handle it
