Stillen Short Shifter (pics)

Just got my stillen short shifter in today. Im going to do the install this wednesday after work. I give a review on it soon there after. For the time being, I just thought I'd post up pics of the shifter since stillens web site doesnt offer very good pics. Its a 33% shorter throw, according to Stillen. Overall the shifter looks awsome. Check it out.

p.s. I decided to go Stillen because I didnt want to wait for the Rogue

that's a nice and sturdy looking unit. 33% reduction... that will be nice. I just put in my rogue, and I'm pretty sure it has less of a reduction (in 20~ percent reduction range).

good luck with the install. The only hard part for me was worrying I was going to trash my center console, but it pops right out. And I think I managed to loosen up the fingers on the plastic cup, but it's still functional. All in all, a pretty easy install.

my RE shifter should be coming in thursday. how does these things work? lol. i mean i know the height doesnt change when these shifters are installed. but how does it really make a short throw when shifting. the only obvious difference from the aftermarket and the OEM shifters, the after market are LONGER. how does it make it a short throw if the size of it is the only difference?

the stillen is actually a bit shorter in height than the stock one. as far as I know, it shortens up the distance between the shifter gates, making the overall throw between gears tighter. I think it has to do with the differences between the lower "ball" diameter.

well....I just installed the shifter last night. This thing feels really good. Its nice and tight. The installation of the shifter was a pain in the ***. Id rather remove & install my high flow cats 5X's before I do another shifter.
I had a hard time removing the ****, & the plastic cup. I couldnt imagine installing this thing in my drive way like some of the other guys have.

overall Im very satisfied with the throw. No noise what so ever which was my biggest concern. Like everyone has said, it should have come from the factory this way.

Give your dealer a call and ask if it will void your warranty. Even thought i bought the 100k warranty but i already bought the RE shifter and will install it soon. I don't think the dealer will know th difference or should i say i hope they don't.
If my transmission ever break down, i'll just take it out and put the OEM back before take it back to the dealer.

I agree. just swap it back over. I would think the shift shifter would help prolong the life if the tranny. (imo)

from what Ive read so far, the stillen is a shorter throw but you really cant go wrong with either one. so far so good with mine. I love it, and best of all its quiet just like the stock one.

Hey Ralph, not sure if you’re gonna answer this or not because it’s an old thread.. but did you have to file down anything in your gearbox for this install? I read on my350z about a guy installing this SS and filing down his gearbox to where he no longer had to push down to access reverse. Can you install without that step? I’d rather not file anything down.

Thanks!!
