So, you're still happy... You'd do it again...

Effective gearing is dependant on so many things, not just the rear rear ratio. A car will most definitely feel faster with deeper gearing in a shorter run, but you'll really never know until you put it under the timers. When gearing a car you can't forget about the transmission gearing, overall power, the shape of the powerband, and vehicle weight. The C6 Z06 may look like it has really stout gearing because it has a 3.4 gear out back mated to a massive 7 liter powerhouse motor, but when you look at the tranny gearing and the rev capability of the motor (7,000rpms), you'll see that the Z06 actually has quite long gearing.
1st 58mph
2nd 88mph
3rd 120mph
4th 155mph
5th 210mph (theoretical)
The Z06 doesn't need the extra torque multiplication from deeper gearing because the super flexible and torque rich LS7 takes care of that.
Regarding MPGs, the Z06 can attain excellent highway MPGs because at 70mph in 6th, the engine is loafing along at 1,400rpms.
