Finally got around to installing the Stillen engine damper this weekend, after I had been sitting on it for seriously like 2 years. The install was kind of a pain in the @$$, since there's not much room to work.

If you're installing, move the coolant overflow reservoir and temporarily remove the ground strap on the frame rail underneath the coolant reservoir, it frees up a lot of space to work. Otherwise, just follow the directions Stillen gives you. Pretty straightforward stuff.

After having driven the car over the past few days (2005 6MT), I can say that I am extremely happy with this mod. I never realized before just how much I could feel my engine rocking. Now that it's not rocking anymore the car just feels so much more SOLID. Starting from a stop is now much more smooth. Also, when I used to let off of the accelerator, and let the rpms drop, the car would kind of buck a little. Not anymore, that is completely gone. No real noticeable increase in vibrations in the cabin (well, maybe a little at idle, but that's a big maybe. It's nothing I'd notice if I wasn't looking for it).

Overall a great mod to make driving your G more enjoyable. This isn't going to add power, but once you do this mod you"ll wonder how you got along without it.

I have practically zero mods on my G (2005 6mt) besides wheels, mostly due to lack of funds and having no idea where to start. But this one sounds like a good place to start! If something can change the overall feel of shifting and general solidness for 140ish bucks it sounds like a damn good idea to me.

hey guys i snapped the bolt that connects the stillen damper to the timing chain cover. Took it to the shop they broke two easy outs trying to get it out. if i want they will dig in deeper and re tap the hole. is there anywhere else i can mount this thing?

The directions are pretty poor or I am just totally missing something. I get where the bottom bracket goes, and I am pretty sure the top piece goes where the existing gold bracket with the grounding strap currently is. The only thing I am not sure of is where it is saying to move that gold bracket to.
