Second Gen Valve Body from Level 10
As some of you may know,my car,a 2003 FX45 has served as a test bed for Level 10 to try new ideas.Pat and I have been friends since my racing days with a Buick GN.I originally brought my car there a few months after I purchased it..sluggish and delayed shifting...sound familiar
After a couple of revisions to that VB and the addition of a higher stall Torque Converter,Pat called because they were developing an extra disc/clutch pack for the trans.I brought my car up for the install and testing.
I could not have been happier...I thought.Mid summer Pat called again. There persisted to be some conflict between the TCU and the VB's and he believed he had the solution.50 hours of labor and a lot of fluid. He had harmony and perfect shifts,no slippage. How fast?Snap your fingers and the length of the sound is a shift...in each gear.Agressiveness is modulated with throttle position,as it should be.
He walked me through the changes, which are proprietory, but bottomline, it is perfect in drive and manual mode.I am set on kill(10/10) and I will go back in 1K miles for an ideal street/strip setting...8 or 9,but I have a hell of a smile
The other day, full tank,90 degrees,3/4 throttle on a merge it hard chirped the 1-2 shift...this is a 4500 pound vehicle.I have no doubt it wil do the same on the 2-3 shift
Pat expects to have the new parts ready next month and I know there are some FX's waiting

Pat thought September was good, but I will check with him after the holiday...Assuming healthy clutches, this is good into the 400hp range w/o the better or extra clutches.
I have owned race cars with prepared trans, and this shifts faster...very impressive and full automatic features which for a hi end car is nice

I talked to Pat this moring...there will be a signature series with the VB/TCU mods and the clutches.
Under serious consideration is a kit for the VB or simply the VB alone.I would strongly suggest those with a particular interest should express that interest. It does not obligate you,but may help them decide where to go with their design

I haven't been on this site in ages,so I am sorry.Just talked to Pat,the kit and install are in production.
Over a year later, the trans is perfect and chirps first and second gear on full power shifts at 7300 in first and 7100 in second
It shifts on demand and will down shift two gears if you learn the technique
I asked for zero slippage and it can be set up softer, but your throttle will modulate the shifts.
I do not have a trans cooler and one is not needed...at Pat's recommendation.Once Pat explains what he does, you will understand the reason to leave the trans cooling stock and why others must add coolers
