UR Crank Pulley

Had mine installed at Performance Nissan in Duarte CA

So these are my impressions..... quicker response on the throttle. Front end feels "lighter" and doesn't bog down when accelerating. Have a bunch of mods, but this one was the one that was immediately felt driving off the lot.

I am not running any heavy e-loads, so not worried about my accesories. Will be doing an oil analysis on the next M1 change...any day now.

Upon observations with Alagolfer and DaveO, the gains contributed by this mod are equal to that of changing out the sedan's crank driven fan with an electric setup.

Jury is still out on the abnormal lead content in your oil as a sign of engine damage. I'll keep you updated.

Cheers, Ted

Re: UR Crank Pulley

Same impression here and same with my bud that did it in his AT coupe.

It's hard to describe but the whole front end does feel lighter and the throttle response is much more immediate.

In terms of the lead, was the analysis before or after the pulley?

Yup pulley is one of the best mods, great gains in acceleration and much faster reving throughout the rpm band A++++

Most, if not all the pulleys the guys are using are made by Unorthodox Racing. You can get them from a variety of vendors including some on this site. The crank pulley will have about 90% of the performance gain. The other 2 are more for show if that's your thing.

If the pulley caused the damage then no, your warranty won't be honored. I have and plan on doing regular oil analysis work ups. My results so far have been very good with no elevated levels of lead. If something happens and the dealer tries to blame it on the pulley (which I'm sure they will) claiming bad bearings, then all I would have to do is show them my lab results.

Re: UR Crank Pulley

I just did the crank pulley only. It's been the best mod I've done performance wise by far. Your car just feels lighter.

Nice sig. It looks more like a 911 everyday :-)

I just did mine last week (DIY). A little vibration felt from the engine. I don't know why. Dealer has checked everything is fine. I like the kick above 3K rpm. Greatest and cheapest mod for performance. I'll post my DIY write up. I have an idea how to make the AT crank not to rotate when you try to get the bolt.

With the 6 speed it's easy. Just put it in gear and have someone apply the brakes.

With the automatic it's a little more tricky, unless you have an impact wrench available.
Apparantly there is a small access cover by the ring gear (not sure if it's on the starter side or other side), that when removed will allow a locking bar to be used to engage the ring gear to stop its' rotation.

What idea did you have?

What About Voiding the Warranty

Did none of you guys worry about voiding your warranty by installing the underdrive pulley? It is the only mod I am doing that is directly related to the engine and that could maybe cause serioud problems if something went wrong.

I want to get the Black colored pulley so maybe the dealership won't be able to notice it when they do oil changes and the like.

Is it really worth it? If you live in Houston, what dealerships do not care about mods, as I usually goto Southwest Infiniti as that is where I bought the car.

Thanks.

Jason

I don't know about voiding you warrenty. I just thought rather that worry about it I'm having my dealership do the install next week. The labor cost isn't too bad and they gave me a good price on the pulleys.
