Crawford cats

I feel like a post ***** all of a sudden.

I have a stock exhaust and had the Crawford cats installed. The workmanship on the units looked very good. Also, the shop commented on how nice they thought they looked and they do a lot of their own piping and welding.

My only mods are these cats and the z tube. There is a noticeable difference with the cats. The car has more pep to it. It almost feels lighter. The change is all throughout the rev band. I would describe the change about the same feeling you get after you've shed a several hundred pound load that was either sitting in your seats or in the trunk. There is no noticeable loss in the lower rpms as I've seen some people suggest you'll lose torque. I haven't lost any.

I do find myself gunning the car all over the place. With this mod I feel the need to tighten up the suspension, probably due to my more aggressive driving.

There is a sound difference, but it would be inaudible to anyone but a G owner who was trying to listen for it. I can't really describe it. It's not raspy at all, which seems to be the term batted around at times.

Overall: highly recommended. I always thought I'd change out the cat back, and even had ordered a Y pipe, but wasn't really considering cats. I got them on a whim and am very happy I did.

If you're looking to change your performance and want to do it on the exhaust side, then my advice is spend the money on the Crawfords before you change the cat back components. I don't think you'll get nearly in the ball park of performance gains with changing the catback that you will with these cats. And the bonus is, they're cheaper than a catback change.

I don't have a desire to radically change the exhaust note or have a different looking exhaust. For me, spending money on a catback would be money down the drain at this point, because I won't get much if any noticeable gains from changing the catback. I'll probably get a Y pipe just because I want one.

Re: Crawford cats

I agree with winw. My G coupe has the Z tube, and then I installed cats with a Borla exhaust at the same time. After the ECU adapted, I definitely felt a power increase. But... the cabin noise was too loud for the wife, clients and some cell phone conversations so I kept the cats and put the stock exhaust back on. I did not really notice any power difference without the Borla, but the power increase over stock setup was still there.
With essentially a stock car, I'd say that it's a very good power mod.

Re: Crawford cats

Okay, you guys talked me in to it. I ordered a set from performancenissanparts.com. I was browsing their page and saw that they carry them now. I took it as a sign.

I'll follow up when I get them installed. I'm real eager to see how they sound with my Fuji.

winow speaks the truth. A really good mod. The quality and fitment are top notch, and they do what they're supposed to do.
