Unlimited Tuning Y-Pipe

Mod: Unlimited Tuning Y-Pipe
$: $320
DIY: yes (if you can get your car up); Shouldn't cost a shop more than $40 to install. I paid the guy $30 cash.
Difficulty: Easy (6 bolts total)
Time to install: <1hr on your own. Bodyshop did it in 10minutes
Overall value: 4 out of 5
Review: "Butt" Dyno tells me it seems to have open up a little bit more on the low end. Sound difference is slight, and not too loud which is what I'm going for. I went for something subtle and it was a PERFECT fit. The guys that installed it even noted the nice welding job and how nicely it fit.

If you plan on keeping your stock exhaust, this is probably a good mod...without having to do too much.

Re: Unlimited Tuning Y-Pipe

you talk about the sound difference, but how about at each rpm range? At the low end is it pretty much the same, but then only a slight increase at high rpm, or what?

Thanks.

Re: Unlimited Tuning Y-Pipe

Drove more last night and this morning... from my observation since it's still fresh on my mind... You don't hear too much of a noise difference until you start to open her up. So around 3.5k+ to WOT... it sounds great and has added a slight growl to it. I personally really like it IMO. But I definitely feel it pull a little more with the installation of the Y-Pipe.

Re: Unlimited Tuning Y-Pipe

isn't that our stock exhaust system has Y-pipe too?
You said that this Y-pipe will fit the stock exhaust, but will it fit other exhaust too (Nismo, Fujitsubo)?

Re: Unlimited Tuning Y-Pipe

yes, i have the fujitsubo y-pipe which i picked up about a month ago, 350 total, i couldnt pass it up. however, im not installing it yet b/c im waiting to buy an actual exhaust for the rear half of the car. I was thinking maybe rs-r or fujitsubo. but yes it will fit any exhaust that fits to the oem y-pipe.

Re: Unlimited Tuning Y-Pipe

that can't be right... There is no way that the torque and HP lines should cross past 5552 RPM.. am I seeing that right? It looks like is crosses after 5500

The HP and Torque figures are on difference scales thats why it isn't crossing at 5252rpms. =)

Re: Unlimited Tuning Y-Pipe

Let me place my review on the UT ypipe.
Amazing fit, finish and quality. Installation was quick and painless, includes all hardware (bolts, gaskets).
Power is definitely evident in the mid to upper power band.
And the sound is no different under normal driving conditions but once u drop the hammer, the sound is intoxicating....
As for the dyno chart gain, (if you search the boards) it was noted that the dyno graph shows the worse stock run vs. the best run with the ypipe.!??! You should expect a minimum of 7-9hp gain. on a stock G.
GREAT PRODUCT and recommended.

Re: Unlimited Tuning Y-Pipe

How about weight savings? Anyone drop this and a stock Y-pipe on the scale to measure the difference in weight between the two?

If not, certainly some of you have handled both Y-pipes and can give some description of the weight difference.

Re: Unlimited Tuning Y-Pipe

Average hp gain on the YPipe is about 9-12, we had an open invitation when we dynoed the YPipe, you will see a bigger increase if your car is running at an optimal level vs. lean or rich, thanks.

Re: Unlimited Tuning Y-Pipe

Sorry to ask again, but I'm probably getting the UT y-pipe. Are you sure the sound is not raspy ? I've heard of other y-pipes getting a raspy sound. I would like to retain a close to stock sound if possible a little louder and deeper is OK, but just not fart can.

Thanks
