Braille battery

This thing is light. Only 11.5 lbs. Very tiny as well, 3.5 in. wide 6in. tall and long. Car starts up fine and have had no problems. The stock battery was around 37 lbs., so that's a 25 lbs. weight savings. I had to make a aluminum braket to mount it high enough for the pos. and neg. to reach it, that was kind of a pain. Cutting and bending aluminum is not that hard, it's just having the access to machines to do it. Anyways, I recommend this mod to anyone who is trying to shed some weight.

Which of their batteries did you get? I didn't see one for our application. Perhaps, I missed it.

Just keep in mind that once the temps drop below ~50 degrees or if the car sits around for more than a couple days, it may not have the cold cranking amps you need. Otherwise, it's a great mod that sheds "bad" (meaning in the front and high) weight.

Nice to have another alternative. I always go with an Optima because they have yet to let me down.

Also, for anyone thinking of relocating their battery to the trunk (your G or any other car), check out Detroit Speed & Engineering for their Optima-specific Battery Mount for a great Optima-specific battery holder. Used the polished one in the trunk of my '55 Bel Air and it looked great.

Just remember you won't be able to race a 1/4 mile track with trunk-mounted battery unless you have an emergency shutoff switch on the outside of the car. It doesn't matter if the car does 20 seconds or 5 seconds in the 1/4 mile.

I've raced for 15 years and have *only once* seen someone running slower than 12.00 turned away for no external shutoff, unless they were mouthing off to tech, or had other problems with their car. Stanton, Mi. has the most hardcore tech I've ever seen. Worse than any of the 'national' tracks.

Hell, the stock SEATBELTS are good until 11.99........

Hey ther is a group buy going on at the my350z site for this Braille battery with mounting bracket 170 for everything and shipped

http://my350z.com/forum/showthread.php?t=208893

In case anyone was interested, I was a little hesitent about the size because of possible cold cranking issues but I checked out their site and their CCA are at as high as any of the other small size batteries

Nice mod.... for racers.

Sounds great until you leave that radio on for a little too long on some abandoned stretch of back road.
