Unhappy Dyno'd Stillen Hi-Flow Airbox

The Stillen really roars above 3,500 RPM, feels like it pulls harder. I kept the windows up the first couple of time I drove the car. So I wouldn't perceive the sound of the exhaust as a gain in performance.

The dyno shows a gain that is very negligible

At this time I have to consider the Stillen Hi-Flow Airbox as sound mod for the exhaust

Before
Z-tube+K&N, 1/2" MD spacer with ISO Kit, Invidia G200
249.00 HP _ 229.91 FT-LB

After
Z-tube+Stillen Hi-Flow Airbox, 1/2" MD spacer with ISO Kit, Invidia G200
250.36 HP _ 229.12 FT-LB

I think I'll go over all my connections again. I did have some problems with the 4 bolts connecting the MAF tube to the air box. It might not be a flush connection.

No intake is gonna give you a huge gain. I learned this the hard way and spent plenty of money figuring it out. I live in Rockwall, Tex. Shoot me a private message and I'll send you my information and everything I've tried.

At least you posted the results therefore you get a big pat on the back. As for the bolts, I doubt it's your problem because if there was a leak there you'd see it on the graph because the MAF would get some erratic readings and the graph would be pretty jumpy, especially in the lower rpms.

1) Was the car driven for a while for the ECU to learn the intake? Or was it a bolt on right after and dyno again? Because the ECU needs to learn.

Hmmm interesting, this dynoed is flawed. We are missing everything before 4k of rpms for the stock intake. Not a good comparison IMHO.

We all know that there have been controlled enviroment dynos in the past and the CAI from Stillen showed a gain.

This was my next question. I even have the POP CHARGER and with it and the 1/2 spacer, I definitely have seen a gain.

With the Stillen box, I would put my life savings on a gain. I will guarantee it. Something isn't right here........

Someone should dyno with all the intake before the MAF removed. That would be nice to compare against the stock system and all the aftermarket intakes. I'd hate to drive around with no filter while the ECU is learning though.

I can't speak for the Stillen Air Box crowd, but I have the JWT Pop Charger and it sounds aggressive, but not loud. It sounds really nice.

I would have to assume that the Stillen sounds great too.....

I disconnected the negative battery cable and pumped the brake pedal to reset the ECU.
Then I drove it hard, the computer was shifting @ 6200 RPM. The car will break traction in 1st and 2nd .
If I manual shift, 6,500rpm, I‘ve broke traction shifting into 3rd.
I drove it Saturday after I installed the Stillen and on Sunday. The next day I was on Thursday to the dyno.

I’ve had 5 dyno’s done at the same shop. 3 different people have run the dyno and each have started the sampling at different RPM levels.

The Stillen is loud, but I can only compare it to having the K&N drop-in filter.

I honestly expected to see a gain on the dyno, since the car feels stronger. I wonder if it’s possible that I’m maxed out for bolt-ons. Intake, Z-tube, ˝”spacer and exhaust.

I have a KJR light weight pulley that I might have installed and dyno’d this week .

You're not maxed-out for bolt-ons. There's PLENTY more out there you can do if you want to.
