For the 5AT the shifting did become faster after putting on the grounding wire (I bought Gord's set). I based my decision to buy a set based on the many reported positive findings before me. I did not really have any quantitative measurements to support the purchase but I did have quite a bit of evidence - and by the number of people that had similar experiences, I would say strong evidence in support of this mod.
MechEE, if the voltages were no different, then I would have to say that a voltage change is not what causes the changes observed...

Wow, once again a thread has digressed into a non productive argument.
If I've said it once, I've said it a hundred times......if you don't like the thread/mod and have nothing positive to add, stay away and leave it to the believers!
Mechee, if you're so dead against this mod or any other, please don't involve yourself with the thread. It only causes discord and dissuades already hesitant people from otherwise participating in a constructive thread with their experiences.
Now let's get away from the namecalling and negativity, and get back on track with what most here feel is a good mod and are happy with.
If you feel differently, stay away please.
I've subscribed to the thread and will watch it carefully. If it continues with arguements, it will be closed, as will any other problem thread.
Colin.

It's not me getting emotional and attacking those with placebo mods, it is quite the other way around. People get upset at the idea that they made a mistake and feel the need to vigorously defend their mod decisions. This is the exact reason why the placebo mods are so powerful. It takes a strong person to go out and spend their money and time on a mod and then admit that it was most likely wasted.
One first hand negative acount of a mod is then clearly worth 100+ positive accounts.
I'm just trying to get to the bottom of things. If the mod works, I'd like to know how. A little unbiased supporting evidence would be pretty good too. That doesn't seem too bad.
But I digress. Back to the grounding wires productive discussion.

That goes without saying.... ....and nobody has ever gotten in the way of that.
Where I have to step in is with complaints about someone's obvious penchant for arguing, rather than just staying out of it and leaving well enough alone.
If the shoe fits, then wear it. I've had so many complaints that I've lost track.
So why don't you just back off like I'm asking you to and stay away from subjects that you don't see eye to eye on and let everyone else be happy with their "ignorant bliss" as you put it.
Incidently , I'm one of the believers in the benefits of Grounding Wires, and I can tell you that I've experienced first hand that it is real.
....Listening to so many positive testimonials from a myriad of members comes at no surprise to me..
So the 'debate' ends here! If I get any more compaints....there will be further action taken.
We're all watching closely.

You know, let me start this off by saying that I am a "believer" in both grounding wires, and lightened/underdrive pullies.
Having said that, I find it ludicrous that you are asking MechEE to stop posting his comments on this mod (and by inference, other mods in which he doesn't think work as well) simply because he is asking for empirical truth, and especially when he is the one who is usually civil about it, as compared to some others who persist and calling him "munchee" and belittling him in various ways.
He has been the one who has shown restraint in his manner of posting (generally, not always, though no-one is perfect) and has contributed knowledge to the discussion, whereas the ones who are attempting to rebut his arguements are the ones that are not showing restraint, and are violating the rules of civil behavior.
I do realize, of course, that this a privately owned board, and the designated moderators can run it however they want, but really, try and use a sense of fairness about it, rather than singling out the one who is actually contributing to the discussion.

As was said, argueing, namecalling, and involvement in a thread in pursuit of that is the issue, and totally non productive.
All it does is upset everyone, and floods my inbox with complaints.
There's 2 ways to present yourself isn't there Dave? One is coolly, constructively and tactfully all of which promote good discussion, and the 'alternative' which is extremely upsetting and causes people to be defensive.
So nobody is unduly picking on anyone here. If you'd check around you'd find that I'm very fair with people, and very appreciative and helpful toward them.
I'm not just going out of my way to pick on Mechee.
None of this would be an issue if people would just stay away from threads that they strongly disagree with, and it's not just Mechee who gets the complaints.... There are others, too, who are a little bit too vocal, and abbrasive and that either puts people on the defensive or straight out scares them away.
And that's not what this site is about.
In light of the recent developments, I would ask everyone to be polite, tactful, and respectful to whomever they're dealing with. Try and promote a feeling of friendship and communication which is sometimes seriously lacking.
Let's be nice.

^^ Thank you!!!! The only problem I have with MechEE is his people skills. I don't think he is Stupid by any stretch, but he needs to see things differently. I thank you for stepping in. MechEE just be more tactful with your comments. Psssst........ You should have never admitted that you like to argue in the UR thread!!!

Let's hope we can all 'bury the hatchet' and work things out...
