Yeah, so I was driving a friend to a bar in PB for a drink at 12:30 last night and was pulled over by two douchebag cops. Thank god I hadn't been drinking last night before we went out. The cop starts out with the normal hooplah, and tells me that I was pulled over because my rear lights weren't working (duh).
The cop then gives me a sobriety test, and asks me: "whats up with this car"
I responded: "uh....it's mine.....
The cop then grills me about my exhaust, and I argue that it's legal in MD and that's where I live, and that I'm in law school so I pay attention to all of that lol. The cop then asks me "what section in CA law does it say that my modifications are illegal". I responded "which section in CA law does it say that my modifications are illegal" lol. He then responds "I asked you first". At this point I am laughing at all of this and grinning like an idiot. I then tell him there's a huge "jurisdiction question" here because my car is registered in MD and I'm a MD resident, to which the cop attempts to dodge and states the laws of my state don't matter in this regard. I responded "bullsht"
The other cop on the other side of the car that was talking to the girl I was driving then tells me that my exhaust sounds like a ride-on mower
I responded: "thanks..."
The cop then attempts to tell me that any modification of the exhaust in CA is illegal (completely false)
Then the cop asks me what's with my engine, I explain that it's supercharged and is 50 state legal. The cop attempts to argue with me about that and I offer to show him the CARB sticker, to which he didn't know what CARB was lol. He then tells me he doesn't "believe" that it's illegal lol.
The best part about this was that my friend that I was driving (a 110 girl) was talking so much sht to the cop that was standing outside of her window lol. Near the end of the conversation I could tell that cop was getting rather annoyed lol.
It is obvious the cops just wanted to bust somebody for drunk driving, and that they were both not fans of modified cars (first cop of this sort that I've run across). They let me go with a warning and immediately after they let me go they pulled over an SUV that had just went around us lol. That was a sign that we shouldn't drink in PB that night, so we went home and had a couple of bottles of wine, which was fine, but it kinda ruined our PB fun for the night.

hahaah nice work justin, but isnt it that what ever car that is in california and has modified exhaust is illegal?? doenst matter what state ur plates say u are present california gotta follow the cali rules??
Even in california, if the exhaust is modified it still is legal if you pass smog and the other sound restriction standards. Cops just issue a ticket for an aftermarket exhaust, assuming that the exhaust truly is illegal. This goes for not only cars but for trucks and motorcycles as well.
