I've always been down for Auto club Speedway. Next track day isn't until Oct 30 but not too fond of the sub par track prep and high DA's.

Better times can be had at Buttonwillow. Best track in Ca is Sacramento Raceway, but it's far.

What I would want to do is attend is HPDE at willow springs but no too many people are into performance here.

Please no offense to anybody here, but I'd rather do this (video below) than stand around in a parking lot whether it's racing or spectating. Put those BBK's to use! LOL!

^But it's expensive to race! LOL! But it's only $20 to watch though. Hell, we paid $15 to park at Huntington Beach.

There's also the El Mirage Dry Lake bed. Tons of fun. Drag, top speed, drift, etc. $15 from dawn to dusk! FULLY LEGAL!

There's also Barona.

For someone who drag races regularly, it's gotten pretty good in the past year. The far track actually has better traction now. It's actually prepped pretty good now. Almost as good as Sacramento Raceway. Yeah it's an 1/8 mile vs 1/4 mile, but at Qualcomm, you can get 30-50 runs vs 3-10 runs at a regular track. Last time I was at Auto Club Speedway (pre-G), I got 2 runs in. It's the first 1/8 mile most people screw up let alone the first 60 ft. Spin or bog at launch, miss gears, etc. That's just more practice off the line and first 1/8 mile for when you do go to a 1/4 mile track. The last 1/4 mile is just an extra shift with your foot planted. I've improved from 2.2-2.3 60ft's to consistent 2.0 60ft's on street tires. There's no way I would get that much practice off the line at auto club speedway. Getting up early and waiting all day to get 3-10 runs wouldn't cut it for me. Let alone the drive. I get to choose who I run with and I can do solo runs of I choose to at Qualcomm. Very little waiting time.

The helmet thing doesn't bother me as I use to road race and auto cross in my old se-r, so I'm used to it.

Tickets are $25 (base price)/$30 regular and $20 to rent a helmet if you don't have one. Most tracks don't have helmet rentals or have limited available. I'd have to wear a helmet anyways due to possibly running faster than 13.99 depending on track conditions.

for me, and 1/8 is too short. I only use 1 & 2nd gear in an 1/8 and all my power is in 3rd and 4th gear where my car just flys.

I am hoping sometime in August, we can do a Julian run. Maybe at the end of the month?
