People in San Diego I need your help!

The timing chain on my G35 broke and the dealership wants $12,000 to fix my engine! (with that kind of money I rather/could go out and buy a new car or used "G")
Anyway, I need peoples recommendation on where and who they would go to fix there engine via third party in San Diego. Please, someone help out a guy who just recently had a baby too and I cant afford an expensive fix. Anyone out there?

If the timing chain broke you could need a whole lot more than just a new chain. You could have bent rods and valves so the whole motor would need to be torn down to check for damage. You'd be better off buying a used more for a few thousand.

How many miles are on your motor? I've never heard of a timing chain snapping on our car.

Not sure what kind of damage is done to the engine but a used longblock can be found for under $5K.

Yes, I took it to a Infiniti retailer to get it diagnosed and they quoted a longblock repair of $12000. Before that I had a Nissan retailer diagnose and quoted me a shortblock repair of $7000. The car only has 96105 miles on it. And Infiniti customer relations will not cover it under goodwill. Looks I am a first of firsts for this kind of thing to happen.

i would check junk yards, totaled Gs where you can get the block out and possibly swap it out entirely if need be. you have some online ones as well. i would start there, then possibly calling the shops that do the bodywork for the actual infiniti dealer in your area. usually they have insurance claim cars there to.

Try All Japanese down in Otay Mesa. Also while down there check Ecology. There are a couple of Nissan specific junkyards near All Japanese, I think they are all kind of side by side if memory serves me right.

Once when I blew the tranny on my Maxima, there was a junkyard somewhere on the other side of Corona that I got a replacement from that dealt with Japanese engines and transmissions. There is also a place on Miramar Road that specializes in Japanese Motors. A quick google search or Yellow Pages and you can find them.
