ill bet you 95% of all spanish people celebrate cinco de mayo and dont even know why they are celebrating it

from what i can remember, in the US it is best recognized as a date to celebrate the culture and experiences of mexican-american ancestry, such as st. patrick's day, oktoberfest, and the chinese new year are used to celebrate those of irish, german, and chinese ancestry respectively.
it's only regionally celebrated in mexico mostly in the state of puebla, it commemorates the first victory over the french in the battle of puebla

i'm not of mexican decent (argentine/cuban) so feel free to correct me

yup Viva mexico means is a shout out to all the mexican ppl. I had fun Monday. U don't even have to be mexican or mexican decent but like some u guys said its a celebration that everyone can drink to.lol
