40k miles....dealer wants to rip me a new one

I took my car in for service...my 5th gear is popping out of gear while driving so they are replacing the tranny.

They are recommending i replace the belts because they are dry and cracking, flush the radiator, and clean the injectors...they are charging me almost 600 dollars for all this and i know its bull**** so i said no.

My question is, what should i do service wise at 40k miles? i did the infiniti 15k service but i learned from my mistake.

Check your manual. It has all the recommended services for each mileage mark. There are a few DIY's here for most maintenance procedures. Definitely check out the videos posted by BYTHABAY. I used most of this info to do my 60k maintenance and saved a few hundred dollars by buying all the supplies and doing it myself.

Man, that dealer is trying to rip you off. You can do everything yourself for a lot less. The next mayor services should be at 60K ad like I said you can do it yourself.

If the belts are really cracked, I'd get them replaced elswhere or DIY. Your owner's man. has all of the scheduled maintenance. At 40k, it doesn't need a
radiator flush or injector cleaning.

See if you can talk them into giving you a new clutch and flywheel too under warranty. I did

Change the belts bro. My ac belt popped around then and the serpentine was on it's way out too so I had it replaced at the same time. Not worth getting stuck on the side of the road for a few hundred bucks. I never flushed my radiator all the way up to 80,000 miles when I sold it. Can't hurt to have the injectors cleaned.

I've got a 20-yr nissan tech in MIA, he said usually nothing is needed till 60K miles. Just check the belts n stuff every 15k and change fluids. At 60k, do the do and get everything done for safety. I just buy the parts and show up at his shop with some beer. He takes the lawn chair and I get to work while he points at what to do...
