Re: Best upgrade for the Bose hands down.
was faster than I knew before i added my reply...hey thanks for the info Wreck....My last question is: Koni...I checked out the audio control EQ and from what I read I see you are using the 4 speaker level inputs and also using the Front RCA inputs....WHY?.....and you are comming out of the EQ Front & Rear RCA....to your ARC amp RCA inputs front and rear....my other question is how are you feeding the Bose 6x9 "subs".....??? Doesnt the ARC amp need all 5 channels fed to it in order to throw out all 5 signals? (Front L/R, Rear L/R and Subwoofer) or can it /does it take 4 RCA inputs FRNT/REAR and put out all 5 anyway??.....Clear this up for me if you will.....I'm just going by your pic and what I read on that equipment....I need some detailed info....some stuff is just too vague.

Re: Best upgrade for the Bose hands down.
First let me say the installation was done at Audio Crafters in Pasadena. Let me see if I can answer some of the question posted. I think the EQ wakes up the tweeters but a sub would really complete the system for my needs.
1. I didn’t bypass the Bose amp completely. See drawing.
2. The EQ has built in high input.
3. The amp is a 4 channel amp. 2 for the front speaker, 2 for the rear. 2 from the Bose for the stock subs.
4. The wiring color codes were posted by wreck already. Thanks wreck.
I’m getting a sub enclosure built that will take very little trunk space. Since I already have a 4 channel amp and don’t want to add another amp (trying to keep it simple).
This is how it will get connected:
Two channels for the door speakers.
Bridge the other two channels for the new single 10 inch Diamond Audio sub.
Bose amp for the rear speakers.
I made a diagram of the current setup. Hope this helps.

Re: Best upgrade for the Bose hands down.
Will you run a separate volume control to your Bose amp/sub ?
(The purpose being to control your front staging from the Hu and have independent control over the sub in whatever config your front staging requires).
My plan is the same as yours except no Bose amp (the Head front & rears will run into my Basslink AND into my Soundstream Rubicon for the 4 channels f&r. The Basslink has it's own volume control.
Not criticizing, just asking before all my stuff gets here and I start phase 2 of my audio project (the Basslink is already installed, but not permanently).

Re: Best upgrade for the Bose hands down.
Cram
Are you going to connect the rears and the sub together ?
But your right, I have to investigate what I can do to seperate the volume from the rear speakers and the sub.
Maybe use the levels on the EQ for now since the rear speakers and the sub have different amps.

Re: Best upgrade for the Bose hands down.
Koni are you going to be at the meet? I would love to listen to your setup. I was trying to map out my system and would like to stick with the stock HU, EQS, my arc 4050, scanspeak rev 7inch, lpg tweeter, custom xover. I love the low end of the revelator 7s so I'm debating on putting a sub in my car (space issue). Is the EQS in the spare tire area?

Re: Best upgrade for the Bose hands down.
Koni,
I'm going to connect my sub (Infinity Basslink) to both the front and rears. The Basslink comes with its own remote volume control, so I can control the sub volume from in the driver's seat.
Right now (since my system is being done piecemeal) the sub is connected to the rears only. It makes it more difficult to get the front staging correct.

Re: Best upgrade for the Bose hands down.
So its not possible to cut in before the Bose amp unless you have an EQ? If so does the Bose Amp de-equalize everything? I am talking with a shop about doing mine...they want to cut in after the amp? (I want to do some custom fiberglass enclosures...and I just can't do that, no time/knowledge)

Re: Best upgrade for the Bose hands down.
You CAN cut into the Bose system in front of the amp...having an EQ is irrrelevant. You cut into the wires, and either use an LOC or an amp which accepts low voltage signals from heads and you'll be fine. EQ is optional, I found it desireable.
I would say NOT to cut in AFTER the Bose amp. The Bose Tech Svc Rep indicated that the amp has some equalization built in, so if you cut in AFTER the Bose amp, (which you can do), you may have to "correct" Bose's preset EQ scheme.
It's just as easy to remove the Bose amp completely, and sounds great doing so.
