DIY guide: KPtechnologies OEM alarm beep module install + video

This module was a simple install. Much easier than the fog light module install. Some picture I will refer back to the fog light install because some things were the same.

ok...here we go...

1) Find the BCM and remove the dead pedal and everything else surrounding the BCM for easy access. (refer back to this thread for location https://g35driver.com/forums/body-interior-exterior-lighting-diy/123555-diy-guide-kptechnology-fog-module-install.html)

2) First wire- 12v yellow ignition power. Also, remove the plug by pressing the two clips on the side for wiring simplicity. ( I used one of the empty slots on the fuse box.)

3) connect ground wire. connected to the chassis (I used the same location as the fog module)

same picture as the fog module install

4) Connect the red 12v (always powered), blue (door lock output), green (door unlock output) follow picture below.

5) secure the beep module in the brake fluid compartment upside down, Route the twisted wire through the fire wall and solder the connection to the module's twisted wire according to the wire colors. (red to red. black to black) (I routed the twisted wire the same location as the fog module) (same picture)

6) optional- signals flash with the beeps.
3A diodes require for install (inline with the signal wires) + generic relay

white arrow is where I put the relay for the signal lights to flash (sold seperately)

done!

here's the video comparing to a lexus. practically the same (sorry, in the video I didn't connect the optional lighting to show you the blinking with the beeps)

Great write up! This is a must have mod...I hated the darn horn honk...so I muted mine, but of course needed to see the lights flash to know I armed it. Now I'd have a "beep" to be proud of

I'm glad the beep changed to the Lexus type beep...vs. the big truck back-up beep that I saw before.

How much did it cost and how do you order it? I don't see it on their site.

I just finished my beeper mod as well. This first round was only for testers and feedback before KP goes production on this mod. I was going to do a how-to as well but accordfreak beat me to it, so I'll just add to his with some extra pics.

For those who don't know how to get through that grommet pictured above, this is how.

1: Get a wire hanger and unravel it.

2: Poke it through the rubber grommet. This will take some force.

3. After you poke through, go into the hood and you should see it sticking out.

4. Put a loop in the end of it.

5. Loop the twisted wire through the loop of the wire hanger.

6. Tape up the loops securly with electrical tape

7. Go back into the foot well and pull on the hanger slowly but firmly until you get the beeper wire through.

8. Unravel the tape and take the wire hanger out. Follow the rest of the instructions by accordfreak.

For those who don't know where to hang the beeper, this is where I hung it and how I did it.

I hung it under the plastic using zip ties.

So I drilled 2 holes through the plastic, threaded 2 zip ties from underneath and took another 2 zip ties and zip the end onto the ones I threaded from underneath. This area seems to be pretty safe from large amounts of water. We'll have to see, but I'm sure glad I got this mod. I lock. It beeps. I keep walking. I don't have to look back to see the lights flash. Plus, I hated that stupid horn as a confirmation. Made it seem so Ford like.

I am testing an updated version of the software that hopefully has eliminated our last bug. I'm going to send the new chip to the testers to see if it fixes theirs, too.

Just ordered the module yesterday.

Question: Any of the empty slots on the fuse box will work (12V when ignition switch is ON)? I have a 2006 6MT sedan.

In the service manuel:
-When the key switch is ON (key is inserted in ignition key cylinder), power is supplied
* to BCM terminal 37.

-When the ignition switch is ACC or ON, power is supplied
* through 10A fuse [No. 6, located in the fuse block (J/B)]
* to BCM terminal 11.

-When the ignition switch is ON or START, power is supplied
* through 10A fuse [No. 1, located in the fuse block (J/B)]
* to BCM terminal 38.

Can I tap in to one of the BMC terminals mentioned in the service manuel for the yellow wire of the module?

I've tapped in to the BCM for most of my voltage signals. You can find pretty much everything you need there, so it really makes for a clean and easy install.
