Talking Just drove the $**t out of a 07'

So I went by the dealer to make an appointment for some service. Got cornered by a bunch of sales guys asking about all the stuff I had done to my car. We hung around outside talking for a good half-hour as I was going all over my mods and answering questions. Then we started talking about the new sedan and I said I would love to take one out for a spin. One guy says “sure thing, take me for a ride in your car and then we can go beat up a new sedan”. I thought he was kidding.

So a couple minutes later he comes up in a new light blue sedan and we take off. I drive it around for a little bit and I'm hard on it but not dangerous. (I was very impressed with it BTW )

Then we stop and he gets in the drivers seat and says "hold on". He drove this thing like we were on the track, through traffic at break neck speeds, taking corners like I do in my car on a mountain run (with all the suspension mods and wide tires) breaking loose everywhere and drifting. Then we get off the main road over to this open intersection behind the dealership with no cars around and he does 3 burnout doughnuts in a row until we could not see in any direction! This guy just drove the $hit out of this brand new car!!! I was laughing my a$$ off. It was crazy fun!

When we were doing the doughnuts someone on a QX56 test drive came up and we took off. That was what stopped him. We got back to the dealer and we took the car way back into the inventory area and left it there. He said he was going to go hide out for a while since he knew he was in trouble.

I’m still laughing as I type this…

Moral of the story: If you live in or around Phoenix, don't buy a Lakeshore Slate sedаn.

I test drove one a week ago, took it to redline 20 times in 10 minutes,
that's a speedy "break-in' as the car had 25 miles on it

Dooooood, that test drive was AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!! Now that's a salesman. If I sold sports cars for a living, I'd always be in trouble.

Am I the only one that thinks that is rather irresponsible of the salesmen?? With stories like this, I am glad I am not buying mine off the lot.

It's definitely irresponsible...but it's pretty funny too. I just feel bad for the poor chap that is going to purchase that car.

That's what I mean, some poor schmuck will be spending alot of money on the car not knowing that some salesguy was burning the **** out of it and doing doughnuts. It's no different than people driving the **** out of rentals cars just becuase it's not theirs. Sorry to be a stick in the mud, but I just fail to see the humor in it.

No problem...your point is well taken. I'd hate to be the one to purchase the car not knowing that is been through hell. The only reason its funny to us (members of the board) is because we aren't the ones purchasing that particular vehicle, so why should we care? *shrug*

well the dealership would get in big trouble if someone reported you. here i'm near a lot of residential streets so i've actually made people pull over on test drives. we've had instances where the driver actually got tickets a few times but yeahback to the main point -- dont buy that G35

Obviously that was a "demo" car. It will be used to breakthrough to the enthusiast target market and for the sales manager to drive around to get the car noticed and generate leads and lot traffic. They usually keep these for about 1200 miles, then sold to some sucker that is on the edge of qualifying, but can't quite hit the numbers.

Then they break out the "demo" option and offer it for $2K off MSRP. The fool that thought he couldn't get into a new G, now suddenly can and thinks he hit the lottery. They laugh as he drives off knowing that the factory will comp them for the tranny and oil consumption issues anyway. Ah, the car biz. Seen it so many times.

This was not a residential area. About a mile from any house. It's open area and there are some industrial businesses down the street a little way.

I don't agree with what the guy did at all and I never would have done it. It was just fun to be along for the ride.
