Detailing Day.........Finally!!
Finally, we had some beautiful weather here today. It was 21C with beautiful sunny skies and I've been waiting for a day like this for quite some time now to detail the G.
After 4 1/2 months of waiting for my splashguards, they finally arrived yesterday. I started installing them bright and early this morning at 7:30 am and am very pleased with how they look. It took about 1 hour 20 minutes to install them with a few cups of coffee.
You basically just cut out the different templates shown here, which show you where to drill your holes.

You use masking tape to tape the template to the appropriate place and mark your holes for drilling.

You drill your holes and voila, your splashguard is installed. (Note, there is a little more to it, but this is just a condensed version).

After installing the splashguards, I was hungry and it was time to eat breakfast. After my stomach was satisfied with bacon and eggs, it was time to spend the remainder of the day detailing.
So here are all the supplies that were planned for the rest of the day.

Even though my car is only a few months old, I noticed that I had some marring and spider webbing already (damn soft Infiniti paint
) It wasn't major, but enough that it bugged me and needed to be removed before I started with the other products.
So the first step was to dig out the PC (which is the best tool a guy could possibly have) and to use Poorboys SR1 super swirl remover. I have SR2.5 and SR2 but thought the SR1 would be enough to remove the spider webbing that I had.
After I applied and removed the SR1, I then applied a coat of Zaino Z5 with my PC. After the removal of the Z5, I then applied a coat of Zaino Z6. The next step was to apply a coat of Zaino Z2 show polish. The Z2 is probably my favorite product that I have used.....I love this stuff. After the coat of Z2 was removed, I then needed to take a break and have a couple of beers.
The last step was to apply a coat of Optimum Car Wax which really gave the Garnet Ember a real pop!!
After 6 hours and 45 minutes of detailing and I was completely amazed by how awesome my G looked. Garnet Ember really is an amazing color when shined up properly. Honestly, the pictures just don't do it justice. It was a lot of work but this was definitely the most gratifying detailing day that I have ever had.

Beautiful job, Shane! I wish I had the time to do something like this! This morning I had to get up @ 7:00am, get to work @ 8:00am. Went to a building materials auction (which didn't have any stuff I needed). Went to a Stone/Tile wharehouse afterwards where we ordered 530sqft of Travertine & 130sqft of Slate. Loaded half into F-150, drove it to a full house remodel we're doing, unloaded, went back, loaded all again, and unloaded into the house. After that, I went to my mom's office (they were having computer issues) where re-configured their network, installed the network printer on a few computers and set up a few new employee email addresses.... just got home like 20 mins ago....
Anyways, I think I'd rather just pay someone to do this for me LOL.
