Kinetix claims that their cats are both CARB & smog legal, but do not have a CARB number.

set/pair High Flow SMOG Legal Catalytic Converters 350z or G35 03-06
CARB legal cats that will pass smog while increasing exhaust flow

Complete set! High flow catalytic converters that will pass emissions testing for 350Z and G35 (2dr and 4 dr) 03-06

THE most affordable FULL stainless constructed SMOG passable cat out there!!

Please check local laws regarding catalytic converters. These pipes have passed visuals and sniffer tests in CA (the strictest state on emissions) but they do not have a CARB number associated with them.

No modification to the STOCK cats prior to 80k or failure is legal. And even then they must be replaced with CARB/smog legal cats.

With that said, I will never put a Kinetix product on my car.

Hey Danny,

Carb Legal Hi-Flow Cats is an oxymoron.
In Cali, you can't have non-factory cats on your vehicle.
If you're caught, 1k fine per violation.
We have two, so it's 2k total. :\

Carb Legal HFC....?

That's correct, there's not a HFC on the market that carries a CARB sticker.
I asked my son (Magnaflow) about this last weekend and he told me
that when you go in for a smog check they're looking under cars with
mirrors....doesn't that suck! Even though our cats are not visible because
they're kinda tucked up, they can still nail your a$$ with mirrors. Swap the
OEM cats back when you go for a smog check....isn't that the only solution?
Either that or you gotta know somebody....you know inside....HAHA

Just to clarify, in California aftermarket/altered OEM cats are only un-auth for OBDII equitped vech. older cars w/OBD1(in other states this goes for OBD-I & II) can have EPA(Federal) approved aftermarket cats after 8yrs, 80,000miles or stock cat faliure(the excuse everyone uses). the Kinetix cats do use catalizers that meet all FED/EPA requirements and will pass a sniffer. so, they're pretty much legal in every other state BUT Cali because we have CARB here. I personally have the Kinetix cats and live in Cali, i had them installed at SMOG station. they where cool and said they didn't care as long as they met FED reqs and could pass sniffer. i really like the kinetix cats, they're way lighter and ofcoures have way more flow and are even cleaner. so yeah, i like 'em and recommend them. for those of you havin' probs passin' emissions livin' in Cali, you can get a 2yr grace period when you don't have to have pass SMOG... IF you fail and it'll take more than $400 to repair. some people ride these extentions for years. If ur runnin' HFC(in Cali), i say talk to ur local test stations and see what's up. if worse comes to worse just bolt the stockies back in. as for COPs on the street, as long as ur not runnin' some crazy polished cat set up you should be fine. if ur that worried about it weld up ur OEM heat shields or just gutt an extra OEM set. all i'm sayin' is, our cats are bolt-on's. it makes it pretty easy to take advantage of 'em.

I have the Kinetix I think when they say carb-legal so if the smog place actually dont check to see if the cat is an aftermarket one, it will pass, but wont give you a carb # to deal with the police etc because it is illegal period to switch them out.
