I took part in the GB on the 350z site for hood shocks. Didnt know if they would fit the Z but hey Im always down to make things work. Got the shocks and found that tein wants you to cut your battery covers to allow the shocks to close or you can take them off. I didnt like their idea so I came up with my own! I drilled a small hole in the inner fender jamb. This took me all of 5min to do and Im recovering from back surgery. I dunno why tein didnt come up with this idea. Anyway no trimin and the hood shuts great!

 

Wasn't there something mentioned about the hood collapsing under its own weight as the reason Infiniti did not equip the G with hood shocks in the first place?

I dunno hood is fine it also opens higher. I dunno why people say that. The shock is connected to the hood bracket not the hood.

 

When you have a chance, please post a pic of the bracket where the strut is attached.

It could be possible. G352NV has a carbon fiber hood which should be lighter than stock so he shouldn't have that issue. The dampening for a stock weight hood needs to be different on the shocks for sure. (Our Top Secret bonnet dampers have different versions with different dampening depending on which hood you have)

On a personal note, my SC300 came with them stock and they are so much nicer than using a hood prop.

These were made for the 350z from tein. Im sure the weight between the Z and G hood are about the same. Im using one shock cause its carbon, if it was stock I would use two.

Sweet! I had just posted about these since the price was right on the money (compared to the TS versions) and was sure there would be an easy to make them work, and so here we have it! For around $100 you can't go wrong, and for those wondering and question will it hold up a stock hood and whatnot, Tein actually offers two versions. One for OEM hoods and another for carbon fiber ones. Using one is also an option, as thats what I did when I had my carbon fiber trunk lid. I simply removed one of the OEM shocks and it worked just fine!

 

Using one seems like it will put alot of stress on that corner of the hood when opening and closing...i'm not so sure that's a good idea.
