I really like the colour as it is. Nice and dark and rich, looks classy.

I sprayed out the bonnet with a half pint just to see if I was happy with the colour. Still needs a sand and another coat or two - and clear coat afterwards - as the half pint wasn't enough to cover completely.

This is the "worst" of the orange peel after spraying the clear (2 coats total). We waited at least 10 mins before spraying the second coat (as per guidelines) but it may have been a bit too soon. Today was also unusually cooler so the first coat probably needed a few more mins to dry some more.

and a bit smoother here

Apparently the guidelines applied to those with a spray booth and controlled temperature! Maybe you should start over from scratch, easier than spending hours color sanding!

Ill say raise up the pressure more and less material and it should take you 7 seconds
to do one straight pass from the top of the hood
(where the cowl/wipers are at) to the end of the hood(where it meets the hood) <-- does that make sence? lol

over lap 50% every pass

and 10 mins sounds to sound i dont know whats you temperature there but im in Los angeles and if i spray a hood by itself i wait at least 15 mins for the next coat and its a little warm sometimes

To fix all that orange peel since it looks pretty thick and you only put 2 coats theres a small chance youll burn it after wet sanding it smooth

Safest thing to do (if the color/base is even and you like it) just sand it with 1000 grit evenly flat and just respray 2 more coats of clear (flow coat)

Thats MY opinion theres other ways but thats what I do

What cap? The last photo? (thats just a close up of the panel with flash) But overall there is enough coverage, anything unusual is probably in the phone camera. Will need some buffing on the clear though but its much smoother than the roof came out.

I'll try get some better shots when its rolled out on the drive. These phone cameras....

How long do you normally wait before buffing the clear? The clear on the roof is still soft, I could dent it with my nail if I tried (I tried where the drip channel goes).
The SPI 5100 euro clear I have says to do it within the first 10 days, it's been 2 days so far and I thought it would be harder by now. Does it harden much under the sun?

Oh you bought the spi euro?

How much clear did you use half a gallon?

When I use the spi universal I wait 3 weeks but leave the car outside in the sun

They say you can buff the next day I did it 3 days after it was really good
1 month later it all went dull
I'll say wait at least 2 weeks .. my opinion on using that clear..

And that clear is really thick that's why the roof came out like that you need a bit more pressure than other clears

Yep, as you suggested. It was also well priced at $120 ish for a gallon + quart of activator + free delivery. I'll up the pressure on the next set of parts and see how it comes out.

I used a bit over half so far (like 3 out of the 5 quarts). All I have left to do is the bumpers, sideskirts, mirrors, door handles and fuel cap. So I think I'll have enough for them.

And yeah, they did say you can buff it out overnight and up to 10 days following. But I'll take your advice and give it two weeks before I start buffing it. I'll be putting the car out in the sun tomorrow. Is there any harm in waiting like 4 weeks, or will the clear get too hard by then?

Nice
I've used a lot of different clears before and when I wet sand them they all feel the same

I start off with 1000 grit until it's flat then 1500 then 2000

On my personal cars I've gone from 1000-2500
I went up to 3000 once I didn't see no difference after 2000.

And it's pretty hard to drip that clear too So you should be good
