225/40/18 with 18X 9.5 all around

hey guys,

So finally had some spending money after finished paying some stuff off. I decided to get some wheels, tires, and suspension. I bought tein basis z for the time being until I bag it. i also bought some wheels that are 18 X 9.5 with an offset of +24 all around for front and rear. I also bought flaken tires 225 40 /18 for a stretched look. however, I been researching and have been getting mixed results on what it'll look like. people have said itll stick out, and others said itll be flush. is there any input you guys have? is there anyway I can see itll fit.

thanks!

That'll be a pretty "good" stretch. There's a site with examples and I think I have a pic of something similar. I'll post back in a moment

Here's the site - https://tyrestretch.com/
Keep in mind different tire brands fit differently with different shoulders/real widths/appearance

This is what 255 looks like on a 9.5

Mine aren't really stretched, if at all. I think the rim protector - the thick bead of rubber nearest to the rim edge - gives the illusion of a stretched tire. I think the 225's will give you what you want. One thing to keep in mind though is that 225 40 18 is quite a small tire for the G. 45 profile would be more appropriate and closer to stock but I know it'll make the stretch look a little less aggressive.

Not sure why you'd want this but at +24 you're no where close. I think you'd need to dip in the negative offsets with wide rims to get that much poke.

okay cool, and I just thought about how non aggressive it's gonna look as well, I just hope the wheels will still back it look fatter!. When I saw the 255 I knew I messed up lol.

thats just an an example of how I'm hoping the tyre well look, I want the wheels to be flush. If anything I'll just get wheel spacers.

So, here's the final verdict..

hopefully by this weekend I'll be able to lower the car. I couldn't get the front strut mounts off.

love the color and wheels but what is it about the stretch that people like?

I guess if its slammed on coils it looks like you have to do that, but on just springs it looks like it needs to be lowered.

What are you dropping it with?

I didn't reply to this thread the first time I saw it because I didn't have anything nice to say about too small stretched tires! Nothing has changed, I just couldn't see any thinking individual driving the highways/freeways with that set up at speed!

Sorry wolverine but there are soooo many things wrong with your set-up. Tires too skinny to do any serious driving, car needs a major drop to even try to pull off the look (some fender covering top of tire all around and I hope you have hundreds of dollars for proper coils, camber and toe kits saved up) and when it is dropped you'll realize 18's will still look way too small for the look you're going for.

However I hope it turns out like you want it to, shattered dreams suck. Ask me how I know.....

Yeah I think the problem with 18" and that look is you have to basically drop it to the floor to make them look tucked.

At any rate good luck OP. I like the wheels and would like to see it lowered so keep posting pics of the progress. GL.
