Just picked up a 2008 G35 sedan with the touring trim this afternoon. Only 36,000 miles. Previous owners kept it garaged and it looks to be in fantastic condition aside from a few scratches I can't wait to buff out. Couldn't get a mechanic to look at it yet but managed to snag it for only $13,600. Dont know how great of price that really is but would appreciate any opinions. Will post pictures as soon as I have some light in the morning.

Photobucket links are broken, just upload it directly to the thread using the tools (looks like a picture of a mountain). Congrats on the purchase.

So I've been reading up on mods and man am I overwhelmed by the sheer volume of information and opinions. Could anyone point me to a good place to start for a total newbie. Not planning on doing a whole lot to her due to having the budget you'd expect from a starving student. Want to upgrade the brakes, add a nice sub and possibly some nice tires once I get a little more mileage out of the stocks. Would appreciate ANY advice I could get.

If I'm being totally honest, focus on paying the car off first, then focus on paying off your student loans. I know you're probably not going to want to hear that but you need to be DEBT FREE before you even think about modding a car or you're going to spend the rest of your life with your priorities totally ***-backwards

Once you're in that position then start with the intake, exhaust (including HFC) and tune, then brakes, then suspension. Decided BEFORE purchasing anything just where you want the vehicle to land between COMFORT and PERFORMANCE because with very few exceptions performance WILL come at the cost of comfort.

If you still need more power after that then swap out the gears for the G37 3.9 ones and an aluminum driveshaft.

Thanks for such a quick reply Cleric. Paid cash for the car and been going to school for 6 years now without spending a dime thanks to working my butt off and managing my money properly since I was a kid. Got a lil bit of work to do on her before I get down to any real modding. Starting with flushing the power steering tonight, super easy thanks to everybodys diy posts. Love this site, been reading everything in between cruising the city with a giant grin on my face.

You can swap power steering fluid in the future but using a turkey baster to suck the fluid out of the reservoir and just replacing that volume every 30k or so. I usually do transmission/differential/power steering fluid at the same time.
