Changed out the NGK Iridium plugs with 87K miles on them (car has 148K) miles yesterday with new Iridiums. I was expecting the worst , to find a few wells with oil in them and was pleasantly surprised to not only find a very small amount on the spark plug for cylinder 4 but the other 5 looked good for almost 90K miles of use. Picture shows from L-R cylinders 1,2,4,3,5,6. You can see oil at the top of the ceramic part of #4 and wasn't enough to pool in the well and had only traveled down about the top third of the threads. Yay, no new valve covers for now.....still chasing a hard start issue...

I paid a little more than that through Rockauto with the 5% discount. That's an insane price, good looking out eaz!!

Fixed my sloppy wiper action with help from this thread:

https://g35driver.com/forums/g35-sed...ping-hard.html

Seems like last winter I had the wipers on at startup when the windshield was completely locked up with ice and screwed up the wiper link bushings (that i never knew existed). Finally had time to search for how to fix it and knocked it out in a few minutes with some bushings I picked up at the local automart. It's so nice when simple stuff on the car works like it's supposed to instead of like a 12 year old shitbox. Still need to get to my fuel gauge and rusty wheel wells. Also recently added Berk HFCs and got a tune by Seymore4. Car is running better than ever. For everybody that complains about rasp from Berk HFCs, mine were raspy as hell after installation but before tuning. It was so bad I thought they might be broken inside as I picked them up used from a member here. I assume that sound is some kind of detonation or something. Because almost all of it went away after the tune. I only get a tiny bit when really getting on it now.

I didn't have a huge update.. but I glance over at my security cameras, since they just popped over to the night vision, which is black and white... and .... it's art! (this isn't the full frame, I just screen shot it, but I swear I didn't pose this. It's just in the middle of my driveway)

Replaced the plastic shielding under the front bumper, rear bolt holes were pretty fubared, not even larger washers were enough to keep it from hanging down after a few weeks. Dealer knocked $40 off their usual price and gave me all new bolts for free. But still $193.

Washed my car after driving up to Cincinnati to see my kids. Passed 169k on the way, be over 170k miles when I get home. Only got gas twice during the 925 mile trip, still have almost half a tank even after a couple days of driving around here.

Just catching up. Got the valve covers and gaskets replaced, along with the spark plugs. At near 250K on OEM plugs, they were toast.

Still diagnosing an exhaust leak in the cabin. Only noticed when I stop, not when driving. (yes, wind fixes that...). Replaced the Y-Pipe with a junkyard OEM last year, so I suspect it may be the headers.

Have new front fender liners to install (the G35x is my daily) and Spec-D headlights.

I've got retrofits on my Accord and lately they've been looking significantly better than my G35 headlights. And I've polished and applied UV protection on the headlights so it isn't like they are hazed up. Yes, I'm aware projectors distribute light better but the difference was pretty big. Will do projectors eventually (have a buddy who builds them) but going on a road trip in a couple weeks so looking for a quicker fix. Plus my bulbs are over 15 years old.

Went with the D2R Philips HID X-treme Vision +150% 85126XV2C1 bulbs. Supposed to have 50% more light output than the OEM bulbs and color temperature is 4800k vs 4300k so should be a bit whiter light. Lumens are rated the same (3200) but they claim the light distribution is better. I'm just hoping for a noticeable improvement over the old OEM bulbs. Got them through HIDConcept.com, shipping kinda sucked because I ordered them Wednesday and they ship via USPS and they weren't picking up or delivering in Illinois because of the cold. So instead of a Saturday delivery it was today. Wasn't their fault though, weather is out of their control.

Definitely worth watching a couple YouTube videos, very helpful. Not that it is particularly hard but nice to see it done before you try it. One your front tire is off, shouldn't take more than 10 minutes per side.

Remove the front tire
Remove front inner fender liner (5 clips assuming all yours are there, 1 screw and two 10 mm bolts) and move out of the way
You can now see the cover, which twists off

Now you can see the wiring harness. It twist off, won't pull off.

Squeeze the clips, then move them slightly towards the light (you should be able to see them) and then pull upwards.

Swap out the bulb (only goes in one way), pull the clips assembly down over it, squeeze them together and push towards the light and release (you can see where they hook in) and put the wiring harness back on, turn on the lights to make sure it works, then the cover. Put the liner back in, put the tire on, lower the car.

Not sunset yet, but are swapped out so this is the best you get. I'll get pics later of how the light looks.

New bulbs are definitely brighter, girlfriend noticed too. Wish I'd taken some before shots too.

Should tide me over until I get proper retrofits.
