Wed 4/18: LACR

At the suggestion of some G35Driver's on other forums, I'm posting this up here too for those that can't make the Fri night run (or want to do both)
===============================================

Los Angeles County Raceway (LACR)

Gate Opens at 5pm
Racing from 5:30 - 10p

$20 to run, $5 to crew/spectate

============================

I'm heading out to LACR Wed nite, for those that are interested in taking a 1/4 mile run, or just want to check it out.

Meet up in La Caņada/Flintridge and we'll head through the Angeles Crest to Palmdale. Or you can just meet me/us at LACR. (I drive an silver 03 sedan, look for the Team Transport stickers front and rear)

For those of you that want to make the run through Angeles Crest.. I usually sit on Milmada Dr. (Coral is now full of trailers for construction) from about 4:10p to 4:30p to wait for any takers. This is the same side of the street as the Shell gas station (west side), just north of the fwy. It's residential, so keep it slow and cool as the Po Po is hanging around the lower Angeles Crest waiting for Canyon Carvers.

It takes about 45m to make it over to Palmdale depending on air-temps and rubber necking city slickers. Your tranny can really get cooked if you don't take care. Bring at least a 1/2 gallon of water to drink and a sandwich or something to eat at the track. They do have a snack bar, but it's extra $$ and you have to go stand in line. Stop by Kragen and get a window-white marker to participate in the break-out trophy runs (something Irwindale doesn't offer), I usually carry one that I you can use too. No extra charge to run the break-outs and they are a blast.

I would not start the Crest with more than 1/2 a tank, as you will not burn that much off and you don't want to race all night on a belly full of fuel. If you run too low on gas (which you probably will by night's end) you can get gas just down the street from the track at the mobil (or chevron?)

FULL ROUTE VIEW:

Be careful of the tunnel and biker bar on Angeles Forest Hwy (the turn off from Angeles Crest that goes to palmdale), at Hidden Spring. Your exhaust may sound cool roaring through the tunnel, but only harley's get away with it when the CHP is sitting on the other end. Also, make sure one person in your party has a Valentine if you get a little aggressive. Of course, I do not condone any canyon carving or street racing.. that's why we're going to the track, right? However, spirited jaunts are always fun. 8)

Cheers, Ted
