NAVAL WEAPONS STATION SEAL BEACH (NWSSB) DETACHMENT CORONA/
NAVAL SURFACE WARFARE CENTER (NSWC) CORONA DIVISION
CIVILIAN MORALE, WELFARE AND RECREATION (CMWR)
PICNIC AREA RULES ACKNOWLEDGEMENT
As of 02/2008
Facilities are available for picnics aboard the installation for authorized patrons, including DoD civilian employees and contractors working on the installation, active duty or retired military, and others as outlined in BUPERSINST 12990. While using the picnic area please observe the following rules:
1. Trash: We do not have trash pick up service in the campground/picnic area. Please deposit trash in the dumpsters. If trash is left in the picnic area, it is unsightly and attracts coyotes and other animals to forage and scatter the trash.
2. Cameras and cell phones: Cameras are allowed in the picnic area and around the lake. Do not photograph any buildings, gates, or fencing perimeters other than the pavilion over the lake. Cell phones may not be used by a driver while driving. No headphones, including blue tooth, are allowed by a driver while driving.
3. Alcohol: Alcohol is limited for personal consumption during non-working hours (outside of 0800 to 1800, Monday thru Friday, excluding holidays) in the campground/picnic area and the immediate shores of Lake Norconian. Alcohol is not allowed for groups of more than 50 people except by special approval from the Command. Any group that plans to have alcohol must provide prior notification so appropriate arrangements can be made for monitoring by Base Police. Individuals demonstrating irresponsible behavior or showing signs of intoxication will be asked to leave and may result in the cancellation of the event. The sale of alcohol is prohibited.
4. Fishing: Fishing is allowed after registering with Security, Pass and ID between 0645 and 1515 Monday through Friday (except holidays). Corona Installation employees, active duty, retired military, and their guests are eligible to fish. State fishing regulations apply to the base and subject to installation fishing controls. Please ensure all fishermen understand seasonal controls and guidance.
5. Swimming: Swimming in the lake is not allowed.
6. Searches: Anyone entering the base is subject to search at any time.
7. Camping: Overnight tent camping is allowed only in the camping area (North side of the lake). Motor-homes and trailer campers must remain on paved surfaces, except for loading and unloading of supplies. The picnic area (around the grills and volleyball court) is reserved for eating and recreation.
8. Vehicles: Motorized vehicles (cars, trucks, trailer campers, motor-homes, motorcycles, 3-wheel vehicles, etc.) must remain on paved surfaces. Operating motor vehicles and recreational vehicles is NOT permitted on the fields or dirt roads.
9. Bicycles/Skateboards/Scooters: Items such as bicycles, skateboards, scooters, etc., may only be ridden on roads and established trails. Helmets are required on this installation.
10. Bounce-houses: Bounce-houses are not allowed due to liability issues.
11. Restrooms: Separate ladies and men’s restrooms and showers are available for your use. Please keep them clean! You should bring extra rest room supplies.
12. Campfires: Safe campfires are allowed in the existing fire pits only. The Fire Department may prohibit campfires at times of high fire danger. Picnic grounds users will be notified if this is the case.
13. Lake Norconian Club and Boat Docks: The Norconian Club area, boat dock, and boats are OFF LIMITS to picnic area users, unless otherwise approved.
14. Parking: Parking is limited to paved surfaces only. As an exception, the dirt area next to the baseball diamond can be used for temporary loading/unloading of supplies. The Norconian Club is occasionally used for formal events (e.g., weddings). People attending formal events have first priority to parking in front of the club. If there appears to be a parking problem, campers and picnic area users should move their vehicle to the North side of the lake or to the parking area across the street from the rest rooms. Do not park on dirt roads.
15. Weapons: Weapons are prohibited. This includes pistols, revolvers, rifles, shotguns, BB guns, bows, crossbows, slingshots, ammunition, explosive compounds, paint guns and other instruments which expel a potentially lethal projectile. Any such device on base is subject to confiscation.
16. No Fundraising/Membership Drives: Fundraising and/or membership drives are not allowed on federal property in accordance with Department of Defense Instruction 5500.7-R.
17. Clean up: Please leave the areas cleaner than you found them! There is no charge for using the facilities and as a result, no one is paid to clean them. The area (including the rest rooms) may be inspected before and after your use using the Material Condition Slip as a guideline. If there is any damage or mess found, your group may be restricted from future use of the facilities.
18. No political activities: No campaigning, political signs or banners are allowed.
19. Access lists: Lists are required one week in advance. Failure to provide may result in cancellation of your event. If your guest list includes political office holders, notification must be provided in advance to clear the event through NWSSB Public Affairs Office.
Groups using the picnic areas can be reached in an emergency (24 hrs.) through Base Police Dispatch Office (951) 273-4330.

Looks like you just did it for me..lol
Ok All stop trying to get added to the list. You had ample time. I submitted the names already. Even if you have a Military ID you will not be permitted in the BBQ area. I have heard there were some trying to get by the rules and paying because they have ID. I know the Officers working that day and I will ask them to escort you away. I have the permission from the Base Commander and have sole use of the area. Nice try but I covered all the bases for moochers this time..I can't update any lists or add you, Sorry.
You did have ample time to paypal and get on the list. Stop Paypaling Kurtis to force or get yourself added it is tooooooooo late.
Everybody else. Let's enjoy. The meat is absorbing the marinade....I can tell you this it looks good...(not trying to blast anyone) Just trying to get the message out. I bought the meat already, and stuff plus Kurtis has been trying to get things organized. This takes a lot of planning on our part. .Most of you know me already I think East Coast and forget that it is kinder, gentler out here.

Why is everyone showing up so early? The BBQ starts at 11:30. Everyone synchronize your watches. Say it with me, "eleven thirty".
I went to check out the area today. There is seating and shade although a couple of canopies and bag chairs would be nice. There is plenty of room to throw a football or play frisbee. There is a small baseball diamond nearby if someone wants to get a softball game going. There are a couple of small soccer goals on the baseball field as well. There are restrooms and showers. The main parking area will accommodate approximately 65 cars with overflow for 50 more nearby.
We're trying to come up with a fun menu. We ditched the carne asada plan as it hasn't gone over very well in past years. We increased the amount of Korean BBQ (can't ever have enough KBBQ). We'll also have chicken and hot links. Don't forget the egg rolls, chow mein, and fried rice. Bunch of other fun items as well. Bring your appetites. I don't want to hear any weak **** like "I just ate before I came" or "I'm on a diet". If I'm blowing my diet, so are you!
Finally, it's going to be HOT. Bring sunscreen, hats, etc. There will be plenty of water and other beverages. Looking forward to a great event. See you all Saturday.
