I honestly wouldn't waste my time on headers, especially considering your budget

If not start off with Plenum spacer, K&N drop in + Z-tube, and test pipes, that can be had for ~$600, then you could find a used HKS or something for around $600, after that TUNE!!! All these mods are pointless w/o a tune, right now im running lean cause i have all the breather mods but once i get a tune its game over
Yea shane thats what i was thinking im going to save so much on labor cause the engine is going to be out installing it will be a piece of cake .
So far the set up your saying sounds really good bro.

First off, headers aren't cheap. Secondly, it costs an as* load to get them installed. Thirdly, your budget is $1200. You'd be better off getting the items both Shane and I recommended before even bothering with headers. On top of that, they don't provide that great of gains on the DE motor to make it even worthwhile, especially considering the price for parts & labor.

However, if you DO plan on getting as much out of the motor as you can, then you might as well get the headers while the motor is out along with all the other mods listed, and then tune that bitc* to achieve the motor's full potential.

EDIT: About the manifolds, considering the fact that you have a 5AT (non Rev-up motor), you'd be just fine with the plenum spacer. The MREV2 is specifically for Rev-Up motors.

Just a run down on prices for the items if you get them used:

Ztube - $50
K&N/Amsoil - $25-30
Stillen Intake - $100
FI HFCs - $350-400, CrawfordZ - $250-300
Test Pipes - $100-150
5/16 Plenum Spacer - $120
Exhaust - ha, anywhere from $400-1000
HR Y-pipe - $100

don't forget a tune
