Moving to Austin TX.
I just wanted to start off by introducing myself.
My name is John and I'm from San Diego, CA and I'm going to be living in Austin in a few weeks.
I visited DFW and Austin this past weekend and I absolutely love it in Austin. I'm currently working for a corporate office working Product Development. Can anyone help me find a nice area in Austin to look at? I'm looking for somewhere that is really nice with a good school system for my 4yr old son.
I visited Lake Travis and loved it there but it seemed to be a bit expensive. Where areas would you guys recommend me to check out when I get there, any help is appreciated.
Thanks,
John

best place to live by far is in the 78704 area code. Central austin kicks ***...miss it soooo much. tarrytown and the hyde park area are pretty cool as well. If you want to be close to stuff then stay in the city.

Dude, I grew up in California. If u wanna be entertained, stay close to Downtown. There ain't much that Texas has to offer but you'll have to make the best of it. Everything here is so freak'n far. Unlike CaLi..everything is close and there's always stuff advertised for car events. Here it's like a dime in a dozen. Been here 4 years now and still not sinking in. Good luck!

Thanks for all the comments guys. I'm sure I'll enjoy my new home in Texas since I'll be there with my family. Thanks again to everyone for their feedback.
Hutto is a nice area, my sister lives there and she loves it, im only an hour away in san antonio but north austin is the place to be. easy to get to downtown for a night out but also away from the traffic of the university.
