Tire Mounting in Houston area and Online Tire ordering??

Hey ya'll,

Well just as the questions states above I'm wanting to find out if there is a place folks who order their tires online and go to for this type of work other than Discount Tire, NTB, etc...also...

I've often wondered if there is really a cost savings for ordering tires online. I know several folks on the board order online But to have them mounted has to yield an additional cost right?

Here's an example: I plan to purchase tires for my new rims...Kumho Ecsta SPT's I've seen on tire rack a set is running 154(f)/185(r) tires only....Now when i go to discount tire they have the same ones for 179(f)/210(r) tires installed...so that's about $20-30 difference. Well if I get the ones from tire rack i still have to pay $20 for installment....So to me there is not much difference?

All in all I guess my question would be are there a significant difference in ordering online rather than getting at a store? To me it doesn't seem worth it unless i'm receiving a HUGE discount.

Thanks very much for the info!

That's what i was thinking Cato...based on my example above you can tell there is no difference...I hope others will chime in who do order there tires online and will be able to provide a better argument in favor of it...

Oh BTW...I'm gonna get my alignment at the firestone down the street from us. Is is very steep to get on it? I dropped my G almost an inch with the 350z htechs so i'm hoping i won't have problems. Thanks for the info!

Ryan,

I wouldn't know about dropped cars and Firestone. I am at stock ride height.

if they have a normal Hunter alignment rack then you should be able to drive up the ramps no problem with Z H-techs.

The great thing about discount tire is after they quote you a price you can do this....

"hmmmm.... That seems a little steep, what can ya do for me?"

BAM! Instantly cheaper
