A few questions for DFW area owners from a newbie
A few questions for DFW area owners from a newbie
My '05 G sedan is coming in in a few weeks and I'm really looking forward to picking it up.
I've tried scanning through the various forums for info on some basic questions but thought I'd ask for any updated information any of you may have.
1. My salesperson at Sewell says the Huper optik tint will run me $500 at their dealership. How much can I save using a reputable private installer? I saw someone recommend Pro Tint off Preston in a thread. Are there any others that you'd recommend, preferably in the far North Dallas area?
2. My salesperson, just tonight via e-mail in response to my question, said that my sport suspension model will come with Bridgestones. From what I've gathered the Turanzas aren't that popular with many folks on this site. If I were to go with an alternative, what would you recommend and how much will a set run me?
3. I'm left uncertain over the whole break-in process after reading various threads. Most seem to suggest the slow method while a few have provided links to alternatives lauding the praises of break ins via hard running. What's the real deal? Frankly the same thing goes on the whole "resetting" of the ECU. Do I understand correctly that the slow break-in process leads to the ECU learning a too-conservative setting and that by the reset procedure (of which I've seemingly read of about 3 or 4 ways to go about it) one can retrain the ECU to a more aggressive setting? If so, which of the ways to do this really work?
Thanks for any insight you can share.
I'll post pics once I get my car in!

You get no value from having the dealer install the tint. Ask some friend to recommend a local specialty tint shop.
The Bridgestone EL 42s are lousy. You will want to shed them at your earliest convience.
Break it in the way you feel the most comfortable with. It's your warranty! You can always
reset the ECU when it goes granny.

1. Pro-Tint is good. Alta Mere does Huper Optik too I believe.
2. My good friend is store manager at NTB in Lewisville. When you're ready for replacements, let me know.
3. Just take it easy the first 1200 miles.

Thanks for the specifics, Moog
I used Alta Mere once many moons ago and they did a good job. I'll have to call both places and get a quote.
And I'll remember the recommendation on the tire contact.
