No front plates in Texas?

I've been hearing some rumors that a bill is in the works in Texas that is going to eliminate the requirement of a front license plate. Can anyone validate this? There's not much on google.

I've heard the same...In Sept. we will be allowed to not have the Front License Plate on our vehicles. I guess to further validate you could check with DPS...If i find anything i'll post it.

And vote for the next meet!!!

That would be awesome!!! I've never had the front license on my coupe, and have never been pulled over for it, but this would make me feel so much better anytime i'm on the road near a cop. I'm gonna research it.

Here's another thread to read up on. It was posted almost at the same time as mine was.

the law

hey this is the truth, the law is in the works but last on it was in april. anyways i just got my new plates today and the dot still sends two, if the law passed they would only send 1, saves them money. the law may pass early next year at the earliest or late this year but until now have to have the damn front. the dealership gave me a choice but you will easily get a ticket if the cops a dick. so for now just to be save in my judgement id keep the both of em on. it looks better yes but sorry, hopefully soon we can take em off! you can call your congressman and tell him to pass it, ive done it. i don't have the webpage though to find out who yours is, if you call information like 311 or 611 or somethin like that i think thats city offices??? don't quote me though on the phone number and if your not from houston it prob won't work anyways. take care!

I refused to let the dealer drill the holes and put the front on my sedan. No problems, yet.
