No front license plate in Texas ??
No front license plate in Texas ??
I had a clear bra put on this weekend and the shop told me that the front license plate law in Texas will be eliminated in October. Any other Texas G owners hear this ???
Nope. Moving out of Texas (Thank GOD) in October so better late than never if it is true.
It isn't like they strictly enforce traffic laws in Texas to begin with, so this will be a point lost on many here... he he.

It would be nice, but I wonder how long before this law becomes common knowledge to the smaller towns' law enforcement. I've always run one because it's been the law here and I have known people to get stopped with the lack of front plate as the reason given. It would be nice to be able to run without it.

i hope the S2Ki forums are wrong
So far, I dont have a front plate on my car and I was waiting to make a right turn, and there was a state trooper rite infront of me under the highway makin a U turn. He was basically facing straight at me, he didn't even bother pullin me over.

So, it's clear to me that any vehicles registered after that date will only get one plate. What I'm not sure about is this:
"For a registration period that
begins before the effective date of this article, the department
shall issue license plates as required by the law in effect
immediately before the effective date of this article, and the
former law is continued in effect for that purpose."
Does this mean that if you've recieved 2 that you must still display 2, in accordance with the law in effect at the time of your registration? I wouldn't think running only 1 would be a problem, but I do try to limit the number of reasons I give an officer to stop me.

My understanding is it passed in the house, but the date was changed to Nov.1,2005. But, the senate dropped it from the bill. On other forums a guy got hold of a representative and he said, "maybe next year". There is a petition. I signed it. Do a search for no front plate in Texas on the www and sign the petition and maybe we can get this scrap metal off the front of our cars.
