LivyathanZero = Rex driver
LivyathanZero = Rex driver
good news/bad news for the G community. in about two weeks the replacement for my G will arrive. my G is will be replaced by a Subaru WRX STi, silver exterior, blue in black STi interior, 6 speed manual. at 3200lbs vehicle weight, 300HP and 300 ft/lb it's a great start for performance tuning. I'll miss the G but I wanted something a bit more performance tuned and the STi is it for now. no this doesn't mean I'm ditching the G drivers. I'm just replacing the G.

Sad news Liv.... What are you gonna do with that carbon fiber hood?
Why don't you join YoungTurk for the pineywoods drive tomorrow. Give us all a last chance to see your G in action?

thanx infinite, yea I'm def still one of the slackers (just ask turk). when I bought the G, I was looking for performance with some luxury. I saw the G and loved it. after 2 years driving the G I'm once again getting the itch for more performance. performance mods and engine builds for teh G are very expensive so I chose a slightly cheaper car with just as much performance. I'll sacrifice some luxury and comfort for performance. the WRX STi is still a great car, just not as nice in the interior as the G.
cato, I can't make it to the drive tomorrow. have to work. I've already talked to turk about it. he wanted us both to drive down and represent Austin. with working last saturday and this saturday and going to New Orleans to pick up my kittens next saturday and sunday, then working again the following saturday, I've a full month. I'll find time to enjoy my car in there somewhere. for the carbon hood, I'm not getting rid of that. I plan to keep it as a reminder of my G. I'll mount it on the wall in my garage or living room or bedroom maybe.
I've got the G for 2 weeks still and I intend to enjoy it the whole time. then I switch cars and after that....who knows. all I can say for my driving future is 500+ all-wheel-horsepower, here I come!

i have a ViS carbon fiber Fuzion hood custom painted Brilliant Silver to match the car. drove with it for like 6 months then put my stock one on when all the rain started. havent put it back on since. everything else will be parted out. the hood I plan to save
Shoulda just dropped 10 grand on a TT kit.
Fun car, those STI... no luxury, but fun car. Especially around here in the twisties. It was on the list when I bought my G... but really wanted the luxury, too. Like you said, fairly easy/inexpensive to modify. I even looked at a Legacy as an option, but for the money... just couldn't do it. I really wanted to like it.

thanx cato. yea Im keeping the hood only. agree that the STi doesnt have the luxury feature but I still like the interior. showing up to the next Stampede with a Rex should get me some dirty looks though, looking forward to testing the legendary Subaru AWD handling
I hereby submit House Resolution G.35 to officially censure Rex Driver, previously known among the G community as LivyathanZero, for betraying loyalty to the Nissan/Infiniti brands and fellow G drivers. All in favor say aye!
AYE !!!!!!
All opposed say No!

The Ayes win the vote. The motion to censure LivyathanZero passes unanimously!

Ah well... some people are never satisfied, right? That's not a bad thing. I'm sure that AWD go-cart with a windshield will be a blast!
All kidding aside, I'm sure it'll be a ****** fun ride. I'm going to be trying _really_ hard not to pull the trigger on a Shelby 350/500GT next year when they hit the dealerships, so I know how you feel to an extent. (Hopefully trying to keep the wife from pulling another kind of trigger if I get that itch, too.
)
BTW, let me know if you want to sell your clear corners and are interested in hooking up somewhere to unload them.

I was really liking the specs on the new Shelby... until I learned that they were cheaping out and staying with the solid rear axle. What a farce.
I love all the "Well, we promise it performs as well as an ISF setup... our testing and racing proves it..."
Well, all that racing is on super-smooth tracks where the benefits of solid versus independent suspensions setups are minimized... but take that solid axle out on the roads of the real world and tell me it doesn't matter.
No soup for you, Ford!

mySTi came in a week early. last thursday evening it arrived. I traded cars on friday evening. only drove the rex home then left saturday morning in a rental to new orleans for the weekend. got home sunday evening and drove around a bit and have driven down to UT once already. spill's description is pretty accurate, fast go cart with a windshield. the all wheel drive handling will take some getting used to. there's plenty of power on tap (never enough though). the suspension feels like it has too long of a travel. coilovers will change that though. some software tuning and about $2500 in top of the line parts and I should have 300+ AWHP. not bad for a go kart. out of loyalty to the G drivers I will never pick on Gs on the streets, though I've been tempted to. haha
